Grand Jury hands down criminal indictments

Several individuals were indicted on various criminal charges last week during a Morgan County Grand Jury. The following individuals were indicted:
• Yauncey Lorenzo Carter, 33, Snellville, one count trafficking in cocaine, one count possession of marijuana.
• Gary Bernard Walker, 35, Madison, one count possession with intent to distribute cocaine, one count possession of marijuana, one count driving while license suspended.
• Desmond D. Harris, 21, one count terroristic threats and acts, one count criminal trespass, one count simple battery, two counts cruelty to children in the third degree.
• Lashonda Worrell, 26, Madison, one count criminal damage in the second degree.
• Bradley T. Benkoski, 18, Buckhead, one count burglary.
• Danny Glosson, Jr.,29, Madison, one count aggravated assault, five counts cruelty to children in the third degree, one count carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location.
• Christopher A. Williams, 20, Buckhead, one count possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer, one count possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
• Daanntron Kapedro Ammons, 31, Hillsboro, one count theft by taking, one count possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
• Jena R. Day, 18, Madison, one count theft by taking, one count possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.
• Micha Byrd, 29, Covington, two counts theft by receiving stolen property, one count theft by taking.

• On June 3 Pamela Sabrina Butler, 39, Madison and Tommy McCoy, 52, Madison, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after officers responded to a fight complaint at the intersection of South Main Street and Hunter Street. According to reports, officers located Butler and McCoy at the intersection and both exhibited signs that they had been in a physical confrontation. Reports state that McCoy had deep scratches on his neck and witnesses reported that McCoy had struck Butler with his fist.
• On June 5 a counterfeit money complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road auto parts store after a clerk reported that a man had entered the store and attempted to purchase anti freeze with a $100 bill. The clerk determined that the bill was counterfeit and after telling the man the man left the store. Officers responded to the store and determined that the $100 bill was, in fact, a legitimate $5 bill that had been bleached out and reprinted.
• On June 3 a larceny complaint was filed at a Penor Street location after a woman reported that someone had taken her new television. Reports state that the woman had ordered the television, a 32” Emerson flat screen, and that the television was to be delivered by UPS. The woman said she never received the television but UPS informed her that a male at her residence had taken delivery of the television. The television is valued at $298.
• On June 4 Robert Higgins, 51, Madison, was arrested and charged with drunkenness after officers responded to a disturbance call at an Eatonton Road motel. Reports state that several woman at the motel reported that Higgins was attempting to engage them in a physical confrontation and they had driven him off by throwing bottles at Higgins.

• On May 30 Larry Donnell Carter, 23, Madison was cited with disorderly conduct after he allegedly slammed a woman to the ground during an altercation. According to reports, officers were called to a Harris Avenue location in regards to a fight in progress. Carter was located at an East Washington Street location and told officers he had to take a woman to the ground during a fight. Carter told officers he was defending himself from an attack. Reports state that a crowd at the East Washington Street location had gathered and were threatening Carter. Carter was cited and transported to a relatives house for his safety.
• On May 29 Andrew L. Alexander, 18, Watkinsville, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after officers searching for a similar vehicle that Alexander was driving stopped Alexander for allegedly weaving. Consequent to the stop, reports state, an officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Reports state that Alexander told officers he had recently smoked marijuana and that there was marijuana in the ash tray of his vehicle. The suspected marijuana was found along with a pipe.
• On May 29 a robbery complaint was filed at a South Main Street location after a man reported that while he was walking on South Main Street near Walton Park a white male and a black male started demanding money. The complainant said he did not have any money but the two men allegedly shoved him to the ground and kicked him on his stomach and sides. The man said the two men took his wallet but that there was no money in the wallet. The man, reports state, sustained a broken nose and had a significant amount of blood on his face but refused medical treatment. The man told officers he currently resides in a tent behind the Budget Inn.

• On May 17 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Eatonton Road department store after a man reported that while his vehicle was parked at the store someone attempted to gain entry to his 1997 Chevrolet 1500. The complainant said the lock and door handles on the driver side door are now malfunctioning.
• On May 14 a larceny complaint was filed at a Monticello Highway location after a woman reported that someone had taken her dog fence. The complainant said the house had been vacant during storm repair and that when she returned to the house she noticed that someone had taken the dog fence apart and brackets to the fence were missing. The woman said that she moved the rest of the fence to an area behind a barn but when she returned to the location again she noticed that the fence had been taken. A neighbor reported observing a dark Dodge extended cab pickup truck driven by an older gray-haired man in the area.

• On May 14 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at a Green Meadow Drive location after a man reported that someone had damaged approximately 15 feet of fence in his front yard. Reports state that a corner post for the fence had black or gray paint transfer where it had been struck.
• On May 14 a larceny complaint was filed at a Cook Hill Road location after a woman reported that someone had entered her residence and removed her purse while she was sleeping on the purse. The woman said the purse contained a Sears credit card, a Macy’s credit card, two debit cards, two cell phones, an unknown number of rings and bracelets and $100 in cash.
• On May 15 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway location after a man reported that someone had damaged the locks and doors on two storage containers.
• On May 9 a burglary complaint was filed at a Cooks Hill Road location after a man reported that someone had burglarized his house after he was unable to secure the house following storm damage. According to reports the complainant stated that someone removed a push lawn mower, a weed eater, a large speaker, a 760 watt Pioneer amplifier, a Dell laptop, a white pearl necklace, rings and a coin collection were taken. A neighbor noted that she observed two men at the location prior to the thefts.

• On May 3 a counterfeiting complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that a man entered a drug store and attempted to make a purchase with a counterfeit $100 bill.
Reports state that when the man was told that a clerk could not return the fake bill the man said he would go to his car and retrieve some change to pay for the order.
The man did not return to the store but employees retrieved a tag number on the man’s GMC Envoy.
• On May 3 a damage to property and larceny complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road storage facility after a woman reported that someone had cut a lock on a storage unit and removed a Toshiba flat screen television, a Toshiba VCR, a Samsung DVD player, CDS, a Kenmore sewing machine, winter clothes and shoes.
Estimated value of the items is $4,250.
• On May 3 a burglary complaint was filed at a Green Meadows Drive location after a man reported that someone had entered his residence and removed $100 cash.
The man said someone entered the residence through an open front door.
• On May 2 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Fairgrounds Road location after a man reported that someone had cut two tires on a utility trailer he had parked at a construction site.
The man said he had replaced the tires at a cost of $210.
• On May 2 a warrant was issued for Antwan Laguin, 23, Madison for simple assault after he allegedly struck a woman in the face, spit in the woman’s face and threw the woman to the ground and allegedly choked her.
The victim was observed by officers on East Washington Street in her vehicle.
