Law Enforcement: May 12, 2011

Madison Police Department
    • On May 3 a counterfeiting complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that a man entered a drug store and attempted to make a purchase with a counterfeit $100 bill.
    Reports state that when the man was told that a clerk could not return the fake bill the man said he would go to his car and retrieve some change to pay for the order.
    The man did not return to the store but employees retrieved a tag number on the man’s GMC Envoy.
    • On May 3 a damage to property and larceny complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road storage facility after a woman reported that someone had cut a lock on a storage unit and removed a Toshiba flat screen television, a Toshiba VCR, a Samsung DVD player, CDS, a Kenmore sewing machine, winter clothes and shoes.
    Estimated value of the items is $4,250.
    • On May 3 a burglary complaint was filed at a Green Meadows Drive location after a man reported that someone had entered his residence and removed $100 cash.
    The man said someone entered the residence through an open front door.
    • On May 2 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Fairgrounds Road location after a man reported that someone had cut two tires on a utility trailer he had parked at a construction site.
    The man said he had replaced the tires at a cost of $210.
    • On May 2 a warrant was issued for Antwan Laguin, 23, Madison for simple assault after he allegedly struck a woman in the face, spit in the woman’s face and threw the woman to the ground and allegedly choked her.
    The victim was observed by officers on East Washington Street in her vehicle.

    • On May 1 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Morgan Circle location after a woman reported that a man known to her had thrown her cell phone against a brick wall. The complainant said the man requested to look at her phone and after he reviewed her history he became angry. The woman said she did not want the man “locked up” but she did want some money for her phone.
    • On April 29 a larceny report was filed at a North Main Street location after a man reported that someone had taken a stainless steel upright freezer that had been located unsecured in a parking lot behind a building. The freezer is valued at $3,000.
    • On April 29 a warrant was issued for the arrest of Cacedra Yvette Robertson, 39, Bostwick after she allegedly used another woman’s name to purchase tires. According to reports, the victim was called by a Madison auto repair shop inquiring why the victim had stopped payment on a credit card used to purchase the tires. The victim told the repair shop that she did not have a credit card or checking  account and that she did not own a car. The victim did, however, recognize the Cadillac that Robertson allegedly drove to the repair shop. The repair shop owner and an employee both picked Robertson out of a photo lineup. Robertson had allegedly written a check for the tires but, reports state, had a woman call the repair shop and request that the check be destroyed and that the shop use a credit card in the victim’s name to purchase the tires.

    • On April 12 Melvin Lee Dudley, 48, Covington, was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property after he dropped off a Hustler Super Z mower at a Fairground Road repair shop. According to reports, a mechanic at the shop called a supplier for a part to the mower and after he gave the supplier the serial number for the mower the supplier advised the mechanic that the mower had been reported stolen on August 23, 2010 in Oglethorpe  County. An Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office deputy confirmed the theft and Madison authorities interviewed Dudley regarding the lawn mower and then arrested him at the repair shop.
    • On April 19 a larceny complaint was filed at a Sycamore Street location after a man reported that while he was cleaning his basement he noticed that three firearms were missing. The man said a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver, a Rohm RG 7 revolver and a Terrni Rifle were all missing. The man said he suspects his son took the weapons in November to fund his substance abuse problem and that the son is currently in rehabilitation.
    On April 23 Stephanie Ann Callaway, 29, Madison and Jennifer Combs, 34, Madison, were both cited for interference with a  business after they allegedly engaged in a heated argument inside Wal Mart. According to reports, officers were called to Wal Mart after the two entered a heated argument inside the store. Combs had left the scene when officers arrived, reports state, but was near the store. Both were also served with criminal trespass notices and advised not to return to the store.

    • On April 15 Curtis Terez Perryman, 18, Madison, was arrested and charged with a gas drive off after he allegedly prepaid for $8 worth of gas but pumped $53.43 worth of gas. According to reports, after Perryman was arrested he told authorities he thought he was “blessed” to get the extra gas and didn’t realize he needed to pay.
    • On April 11 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Mary Magnan Boulevard location after a man reported that someone had punctured two tires on an Ingersoll-Rand paver, punctured two tires on an Dynapac Paver, punctured four tires on a 2006 Kenworth, broke a windshield on the Kenworth and scratched the hood on the Kenworth. Officers located and documented foot tracks and tire tracks and processed a rock thrown through the windshield of the vehicle.
    • On April 11 Garrett Scot Mozingo, 18, Madison, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct after he allegedly was found nude in the back of a pickup truck at Heritage Park. According to reports, two people walking a track around the park reported observing Mozingo nude in the back of the truck. Mozingo told officers he was attempting to get a tan because spring break was approaching. He told officers he had driven around locked gates in an attempt to secure a private area for tanning. He also told officers he had fallen asleep and was not aware that anyone had observed him.

    • On April 9 a larceny from auto complaint was filed at a Green Meadows Drive location after a man reported that sometime between April 5 and April 9 someone took two chain saws from his 2001 Dodge pickup truck. The truck was parked in the backyard of the man’s residence. The man told police that a friend had reported that he had observed a man in the neighborhood attempting to sell two chain saws. The saws are valued at $2,000.
    • On April 8 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after a man reported that earlier someone had scratched the passenger’s side door of his 2004 Ford F-150 and then later scratched the driver’s side door of the vehicle. The man suspects kids in the neighborhood, reports state.
    • On April 3 a fraud complaint was filed at a Carriage Lane location after a man reported that when he was attempting to make a purchase with a debit card at Wal Mart the card was declined. The man said he reviewed his bank statement and realized that someone had made 19 transactions using his account information from April 2 to April 3 totalling $1,884. The transactions, all less than $100 each, were made at a Sam’s Club in Florida.
    • On April 2 Rodriquez Thompson, 24, Madison, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after officers were called to a Bramblewood Drive apartment in regards to a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, reports state, they observed two men engaged in a physical confrontation. When the men were told that officers arrived one man exited the apartment and spoke with officers. He then left the scene. Thompson, reports state, continued to curse and yell and struck a trash can in the apartment complex. He also struck a parked vehicle and ignored officers commands to cease. He was then arrested.

    • On April 1 Danny L. Scott, 48, Madison, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. Reports allege that at 9 p.m. officers were called to a West Washington Street liquor store after Scott allegedly refused to leave the premises. Once officers arrived they waited for Scott to secure a ride but he could not. An officer stated that he offered Scott a ride home but after they arrived at a Penor Street location the officer determined that the address given police was not Scott’s correct address. The officer reported that while at Penor Street Scott was having difficulty standing. The officer reported that at that point he transported Scott to the Morgan County Detention Center. During the transportation, reports state, Scott allegedly cursed at the officer. Once at the center a deputy located a small amount of suspected marijuana in his right front pocket.
    • On April 1 a larceny complaint was filed at a West Washington Street location after a woman reported that while she was working as a waitress someone took her wallet from her purse. The woman said the wallet and purse where in a secure area. The woman said the wallet contained a driver’s license, Social Security card, three credit cards, $28 in cash and medical insurance cards.
