June 10, 2010

Madison Police Department
    • On June 7 a producing marijuana complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after an officer on foot patrol reported observing a 14-inch tall marijuana plant growing in a flower garden in front of an apartment. According to reports, the plant was removed and placed into evidence and the investigation was turned over to the department’s investigative unit.
    • On June 5 damage to property complaint was filed at a Plum Street location after a man reported that his estranged wife came to his residence to drop off clothes for one of the couple’s children.
    The man reported that when he told the estranged wife that the child was playing at a neighbor’s house, the woman allegedly became enraged and went to the neighbor’s house.
    Reports state that the woman then allegedly threatened a woman at the neighbor’s house, stating that she wanted the child back immediately or she would “rub her face in the gravel.”
    The estranged wife then allegedly came back to the complainant’s residence and broke the front screen door off its hinges and continued to scream at the complainant.
    The woman then allegedly threw the clothes in the house and told the man he would not get his child back “until the courts said he could.”
    The woman then left with the child. The neighbor also filed a police report in connection with the alleged threats.
    • On July 4 a burglary complaint was filed at a College Drive location after a woman flagged down officers and reported that someone had entered her residence and removed a satellite television receiver from her house and also had removed a satellite television dish from a house next door.

June 3, 2010

    • On May 30 a damage to property complaint was filed at the intersection of Georgia Highway 24 and Georgia Highway 12 after a woman reported that a man with whom she had a relationship with had stopped his vehicle behind her’s at an intersection, exited his vehicle and burst out a window in her car. According to reports the man said that the woman had followed him on the by-pass and had attempted to run him off the road. Both the man and the woman have a good behavior warrant issued against each other. The woman was advised to seek a magistrate judge for resolution to the disagreement.
    • On May 29 a theft complaint was filed at an Industrial Boulevard location after a man reported that someone had entered his property and removed a 2010 Hooper 7x18 foot trailer. Value of the trailer is $6,000.
    • On May 29 a burglary complaint was filed at a March Street location after a man reported that someone had broken his kitchen window with a piece of concrete block and entered the residence. The man said several drawers had been rifled through but he could not determine if anything was missing.
    • On May 27 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Bell Circle location after a man reported that his 10-year-old and 7-year-old sons had witnessed a 9-year-old boy throw a rock at a window of the complaint’s house and break a window. Officers spoke with the 9-year-old who told them he was throwing rocks in a driveway but only because the other two boys had thrown rocks at him. Neither parent involved in this incident was willing to speak to the other so the officer told the two men that this was a civil matter and that the complainant should contact his landlord.

    • On May 23 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Green Meadows Drive location after a man reported that he had allowed another man to borrow his vehicle at 2 a.m. the prior evening to drive to a Sulgrave Drive location. The complainant said that when he went to his vehicle at 8:45 a.m. to leave his residence he noticed that someone had shattered the windshield of the vehicle. The man who borrowed the vehicle said he did not recall how or when the windshield had been shattered.
    • On May 22 a theft of services complaint was filed at a Waffle House, Eatonton Highway after a woman reported that at approximately 4 a.m. 10 to 12 people entered the restaurant and shouted out orders and changed orders and then, after eating, several attempted to leave the restaurant without paying. Most of the diners were called back to the restaurant to pay but one man left without paying a $7 bill.
    • On May 22 an aggravated assault complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway motel after a man reported that while he was standing outside his room with a man he knows as “Moo Moo.” Moo Moo allegedly struck the man in the forehead and the mouth with a can. Reports state that the man needed several stitches for the cut on his forehead and that the blows also knocked out four of the complainant’s teeth. A warrant for the arrest of Moo Moo has been issued.
    • On May 21 a burglary complaint was filed at a Pearl Street location after a woman reported that when she came home she noticed that someone had taken her Compaq 2030 laptop computer and a package of toilet paper from the residence.

    • On May 16 a larceny complaint was filed at a Hanover Drive location after a woman reported that her daughter had taken her guitar. The woman said she had reached her daughter on the phone and the daughter stated that she had taken the guitar to have it repaired. The woman said the daughter was in South Carolina and refused to meet her half way to return the guitar.
    • On May 16 William Leroy Glenn, 26, Covington, was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting, driving with a suspended license and suspended registration after he allegedly pulled off from a Monticello Highway gas station after pumping $39.95 worth of gas without paying for the fuel. Glenn was stopped by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy after a lookout for his vehicle was given. He was returned to the store and identified by the clerk, reports state. His mother arrived and paid for the gas and then Glenn was arrested.
    • On May 16 a 14-year-old male was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after a vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped for a seat belt violation. Following the stop, reports state, an officer observed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Three other young men in the vehicle denied knowledge of the marijuana but the 14-year-old told officers the suspected marijuana belonged to him. He was then arrested.
    • On May 15 damage to property complaint was filed at the Morgan County Recreation Department after a man reported that someone had broken into a storage area at Heritage Park. Nothing was reported missing but a door was damaged.

    • On May 9 a disorderly conduct complaint was filed at a Penor Street location after a woman reported that a man had threatened her 13-year-old son. According to reports there has been an on-going dispute between the 13-year-old and the man’s 10-year-old son. Reports state that at a neighborhood function the 13-year-old allegedly became disrespectful to the man and the man said he verbally “corrected” the child. The child’s mother said the man made gestures towards the child, “indicating that he had a weapon in the pocket or waistband.”  The man said the teen’s mother came to the neighborhood function with a hammer and threatened to strike the man.
    • On May 8 a burglary complaint was filed at a West Washington liquor store after the store’s owner reported that he noticed two or three boards pried off the back of the store. The owner said no entry had been gained and nothing was reported missing.
• On May 8 a counterfeiting complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road department store after a clerk at the store reported that a woman had attempted to pay for items with a counterfeit $20 bill. Officers interviewed the woman who said she had shopped at several stores that day and received change and did not know which location would have provided the counterfeit bill. The bill was confiscated.
    • On May 8 a counterfeiting complaint was filed at the Eatonton Road Waffle House after an officer reported that after he had finished his meal he paid for the meal and was given a counterfeit $5 bill in change. He said he alerted the staff at the restaurant that gave him a description of the man who had just paid for his meal with the counterfeit $5 bill.

    • On April 28 a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with underage possession of alcohol after an officer responded to a complaint regarding a gray Ford pickup truck driving in a reckless manner in the Wal-Mart parking lot. When the officer arrived he encountered the teen standing next to the truck. The teen allegedly told the officer he had been drinking beer. The officer said in reports that it was determined that the teen was not driving the vehicle. The teen allegedly told the officer he had a drinking problem.
    • On April 22 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Carriage Lane location after a woman reported that someone had damaged her vehicle by throwing a piece of cement block and a tree limb at the driver side window and door. The woman said she had noticed two unfamiliar young males in the area recently.
    • On April 27 a harassing communication complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that approximately one year ago she had engaged in a relationship with a man but recently discovered that the man was married. The complainant said approximately four months ago the man’s wife began sending her threatening text messages and had confronted the complainant at her place of work.
    • On April 29 a burglary complaint was filed at a Main Street restaurant after a man reported that someone had entered the establishment by knocking out a section of the back door. Reports state that after entry was gained someone took a cash register. The register had no money in it and change was scattered from the register location to the back door, reports state.
