April 22, 2010

Madison Police Department
    • On April 1 a larceny from an auto complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that someone took items from the bed of her 1986 Chevy 3500 pickup truck when it was parked at a department store. The woman said two gas cans, a Sears weed eater cord, two log chains, a grease gun, and two tubes of grease, tools, a bottle of Roundup and a roll of weed eater cord were removed.
    • On April 12 a theft of lost property complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road convenience store after a man reported that he had left his wallet on the roof of his vehicle after pumping gas and then driving from the store. The man said after he realized he was missing his wallet, his wife then located the wallet in the road in front of the store. However, three credit cards, $150 in cash and the man’s driver license was missing.
    • On April 17 a fraud complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road fast food restaurant after a man reported that a man had entered the store and ordered $2.34 worth of food. The man initially tried to pay for the food with a $20 bill. He then later handed the clerk three $1 bills but then changed his mind again and asked that the food be paid for with the $20 bill but the clerk gave him change for the three $1 bills. The man then argued that he had not received correct change but he left the restaurant.
    • On April 17 an affray complaint was filed on Hancock Street after officers responded to a fight complaint. According to reports a 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old male engaged in a fight during the NAACP Black History parade. The two males had conflicting statements over the origin of the fight but both admitted that they had fought.

    • On April 2 a harassing communication complaint was filed at a Green Meadows Court location after a woman reported that she and another woman had a disagreement with another woman regarding the other woman’s dog.
    The complaint said that since the disagreement the other woman has harassed the two women both in person and on the phone.
    • On April 4 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Morgan Circle location after a man reported that someone cut two Cooper Cobra tires on his vehicle. The man estimated the value of the tires at $158.
    • On April 2 Donna Marie Copeland, 49, Madison, was arrested and charged with public intoxication after a manager of a department store reported that she had been in the store and appeared to be extremely intoxicated. The manager said she took Copeland’s car keys to prevent her from driving. Copeland was found by officers sitting on a concrete curb outside a motel room.
    • On April 1 a harassing communication complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after a woman reported that three children had been confronting her daughter with threats of physical violence. The woman said the threats have been made at Morgan County High School, at the woman’s house and via telephone.
    • On March 31 a violation of a temporary protective order complaint was filed at the intersection of South Main Street and West Washington after a woman reported that another woman was ramming her car from behind. After officers arrived at the scene the complainant said the other woman had thrown a soda on her car and then rammed her vehicle several times from the rear.

    On March 28 damage to property complaint was filed at a Penor Street location after a woman walked to Morgan County Dispatch and reported that a man known to her had been abusive. The man who accompanied the woman to dispatch reported that the woman had broken out the window of his 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. The man reported that two friends of his had witnessed the woman break the window with a rock. Officers accompanied the man to Penor Street and observed the broken vehicle window with a rock inside the vehicle. The woman had left the dispatch center by the time officers retuned.
    • On March 28 a larceny complaint was filed at an East Jefferson Street location after a woman reported that a man known to her approached her in her yard and asked if the woman had change for a $20 bill. The woman said she gave the man 20 one-dollar bills and the man said his money was in his house. The man went to his house and returned but had no money. The man then said the money was in a vehicle. The man got into the vehicle with his girlfriend and left without giving the woman any money.
    • On May 27 a theft of services complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway Waffle House after a woman reported that a woman had ordered $6.53 worth of food but had not paid. The complainant said the woman had entered the restaurant with five other people and the other people had paid for their food. The woman left the parking lot in a white vehicle.

    • On February 21 a simple assault complaint was filed at a Commerce Street location after a woman alleged that a man known to her grabbed her by the neck. The woman said she was asleep with an infant lying on top of her when the man allegedly grabbed her by the neck and told her she needed to take better care of the child. Initially, reports state, the woman did not want to file a complaint against the man but later changed her mind after she had collected the child and moved to a friend’s house.
    • On March 18 an unruly juvenile complaint was filed at a Micha Way location after a woman reported that her 13-year-old daughter was riding the bus to Morgan County Middle School but then either not going to school or leaving school early. The woman also said that the child stays outside until 3 to 4 a.m. and she needs help controlling the child.

    • On March 11 Mary Ellen Wilson, 36, Madison and Charles Beams, 45, Madison, were both arrested and charged with possession of marijuana after officers responded to a fight complaint at a Bell Circle residence. After officers arrived both were arguing over who should leave the residence, reports state. During the argument, Wilson took officers to a back bedroom and revealed a plastic bag of suspected marijuana Wilson told officers the suspected marijuana belonged to Beams. Beams told officers the suspected marijuana belonged to Wilson. Both told officers they had smoked some of the marijuana earlier in the day and both were arrested.
    • On March 3 a theft of auto complaint was filed at an East Jefferson Street location after a woman reported that on March 11 she had come home and left her 1998 Honda Accord with the door ajar and the keys in the ignition as she went inside her residence for approximately one minute. The woman said when she returned the vehicle was gone. The woman also told police that she thought her vehicle might have been repossessed so she waited until the next day to call the lien holder. After she was told the vehicle had not been repossessed she waited one more day before calling police, reports state.
    • On March 4 a larceny complaint was filed from the Valley Farm subdivision after several people reported vehicle break-ins on the night of March 3. According to reports, at least four vehicles were entered at the subdivision. Three GPS units, a lap top computer, clothing, sunglasses and compact discs were reported stolen. Reports indicate that in all four thefts the vehicles were left unlocked.

    • On March 5 a computer hacking complaint was filed at the Morgan County Library after a woman reported that after she had checked her e-mail on a public computer at the library someone used her account to send several e-mails to several locations. The woman said that the person who had hacked into her account had the opportunity to view private information.
    • On March 3 a dog bite complaint was filed at a Pinecrest Court location after a woman reported that her neighbor’s dog had bitten her on the leg as she walked by the house. The woman said that the dog owner took her for medical treatment. The complainant said after she requested proof of rabies vaccination the dog owner told her that vaccination was current. The complainant requested proof and the dog owner later provided a veterinarian statement that showed the dog had received a rabies vaccination two days after the dog bite.
    • On March 6 a harassing communication complaint was filed at a Burney Street location after a woman reported that between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. she received six phone calls from someone who did not speak.
