Madison Police Department

    • On February 26 Angela Lynn Morgan, 42, Newborn, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass after police were dispatched to an Eatonton Road truck stop on reports that a woman was “knocking on the doors of the parked tractor trailers waking up the drivers attempting to solicit prostitution.” Reports state that officers had in December issued Morgan a verbal criminal trespass warning at the same location.
    • On February 25 damage to property complaint was filed at a Burney Street location after a man reported that someone had entered a residence and damaged an exterior door and two interior doors.
    • On February 25 a larceny from building and criminal trespass complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that a front window of a business had been smashed. Reports indicated that while officers were gathering information they also determined that someone had broken into a neighboring nail salon. At one establishment $34 in cash was taken but at the nail salon no money was reported missing.
    • On February 23 a simple assault and cruelty toward children complaint was filed at a Bramblewood Drive location after a woman reported that a man known to her had become enraged and had pushed her against a door. The woman said she fell and then the man allegedly struck her in the face, arms and hands with his fists. The woman said her three-year-old son was present during the altercation and she alleged that the man had pushed the child down several times.
    • On February 23 damage to property complaint was filed at a Concord Lane location after a woman reported that someone had spray-painted her vehicle and scratched the vehicle. The vehicle is a 1998 Ford Expedition.

    • On February 20 a rape complaint was filed at the Madison Police Department after a woman told authorities that she had been raped at gun point on January 24 at a Commerce Street residence.
    The woman told authorities that the suspect was a co-worker of her husband’s. The woman said that the suspect approached her while she was shopping at Wal Mart.
    The woman said the man helped her carry a purchase to her car and then suggested that the woman and her husband and the man and his fiancé have a get-together.
    The woman said both agreed that the two couples should “hang out” and the two attempted to exchange addresses but, the woman said, neither had pen or paper so the woman agreed to follow the man to his Commerce Street residence to write down the address. Once at the residence, the woman said, she used the bathroom and was attempting to leave when she noticed that the door was locked.
    The woman said the man allegedly pointed a gun at her and raped her. The woman said that on February 14 she took a pregnancy test and determined that she was pregnant.
    The woman said she had also had relations with a 19-year-old male in an attempt to become pregnant because her husband cannot have children, however, she said she felt that the suspect was the potential father. She also said that she did not come to authorities earlier because she had been raped by police officer when she was 11-years-old and was afraid of police.
    The woman also said that the suspect had called her and complained that he had developed syphilis and was blaming the complainant for giving him the disease.

    • On February 8 a fraud complaint was filed at a North Main Street location after a man reported that someone had taken his account and routing numbers and produced fraudulent checks. According to reports two checks had been presented to the bank, one for $566.83 and one for $376.64. Both checks had been written in Atlanta.
    • On February 11 a harassing communication complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that a customer had called the store and stated that she had paid for items but left them at the store. The complainant said she told the woman she was not familiar with the situation. The complainant said the woman’s husband then came on the phone and said, “I will come down there and take $5 out of your (expletive.” Officers spoke to the husband who said he had recently had health issues and that his wife had left some detergent at the store but he was not going to pursue the matter.
    • On February 3 a theft of lost property complaint was filed at the intersection of Georgia Highway 12 and Bethany Road after a man reported that he was diagramming the intersection for a client when he had to leave the location suddenly to go to the bathroom. The man said he placed his equipment in the back of his truck but did not put the tailgate up. The man said the items must have fallen out of his truck. The man reported that more than $11,000 in items were missing including three digital cameras.
    • On February 11 a fraud complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that someone had used her credit card to make an online purchase without her permission. The charge for the item was $213.47 and was shipped to a woman in New Jersey.

    • On February 6 a harassing communication complaint was filed at Morgan Memorial Hospital after a nurse reported that the grandson of a patient had threatened the nurse. Reports state that the grandson allegedly told the nurse to “shut up” several times and also allegedly told the nurse that he would return to the hospital to “take care” of the nurse.
    • On February 5 a theft of auto complaint was filed at a Confederate Road location after a man reported that someone had stolen a 1965 Chevrolet pickup truck. The complainant said he noticed the truck missing but decided to wait several days before reporting the theft to see if the truck turned up. The truck was found at an Athens residence with the engine removed.
    • On February 2 a battery and terroristic threats complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road truck stop after a man reported that another man had struck him in the face. The complainant said that after he had pulled his truck into the parking lot another man confronted him and told him that the complainant had struck the man’s truck. The complainant said he did not strike the truck and then the other man struck him in the face several times and threatened to kill the complainant.

    • On January 29 Reginald Alexander White, 31, Madison, was arrested and charged with theft by deception after he allegedly allowed someone to underpay for merchandise while White was working at an auto parts store. White allegedly let a customer leave the store after paying 1 cent for a battery. Reports also state that White also allegedly allowed a family member to purchase items using an employee discount.
    • On January 31 Joseph Michael Kehrer, 54, New Memphis, Ill., was arrested and charged with theft by taking and criminal trespass after he allegedly removed a camper trailer from a Confederate Road impound lot without paying the towing fees. According to reports, Kehrer told authorities he was notified that the camper had been towed to the impound lot because he had failed to pay rent on a camper lot at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Kehrer was stopped on Georgia Highway 83 while pulling the camper. The camper was returned to the impound lot and the towing fees were paid, reports state.
    • On January 30 a simple assault complaint was filed at a Wellington Street location after a woman reported that a man known to her had punched her on the head. The woman said she was awakened by the man who complained about her alleged snoring. The woman said she told the man if he had a problem he could leave the residence at which point the man allegedly struck her. The woman said she attempted to call 911 from the residence but failed so she went to her mother’s residence and called police. The man was not at the residence when officers arrived.

    • On January 1 a statutory rape complaint was filed at a Commerce Street location after the mother of a 14-year-old girl reported that a 20-year-old man had allegedly had sex with her daughter. The woman reported that the daughter told her that she had texted the man to arrange the purchase of marijuana. The daughter allegedly told the mother that she told the man she was 15-years-old. The man replied that he was 20. The daughter told her mother, reports state that she was going to spend the night with a friend on Larkmartin Street. The man arrived, reports state, and the man and the 14-year-old walked to an abandoned house on Commerce Street and allegedly had sex.

    • On January 23 Nathaniel Craddick Jr., 57, Athens, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after he was stopped by a Morgan County Sherriff’s Office deputy for allegedly running a red light. According to the reports, during the traffic stop the deputy was alerted that Craddick’s vehicle matched the description of the vehicle of a man who had just left Wal-Mart after allegedly stealing a computer. Reports state that during the traffic stop Craddick complained of chest pains and requested and received heart medicine from a passenger in the vehicle. Emergency medical workers responded to the scene to treat Craddick. A Wal-Mart employee had reported to police that Craddick had allegedly taken the computer in a cart through the garden center of the store. A computer matching the one that had been taken from Wal-Mart was located in the white van Craddick was driving. Once Craddick was medically cleared at Morgan Memorial Hospital he was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan County Detention Center.
