• On Dec. 25 Jimmy Lee Binion, Jr., 32, Madison, was arrested and charged with simple battery after he allegedly choked a man and struck him in the head. According to reports, Binion was arrested after authorities responded to complaint at a Maple Street residence. Officers reported that they observed a man in bed with bloody abrasions on his forehead. The 53-year-old man refused medical treatment at the scene.
• On Dec. 25 a damage to property complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a man reported that he observed a man in a white Freightliner strike the trailer of another truck while the Freightliner was attempting to back into a parking space. The man said he told the driver he had observed the collision and the driver said he would report the incident at the fuel desk. The complainant said the man then entered the Freightliner and exited the parking lot.
• On Dec. 21 Ryan Lee Hawthorne, 32, Tarpon Springs, Fla. was arrested and charged with possession of marijuna, driving with a suspended license and speeding. According to reports, Hawthorne was stopped for speeding on Georgia Highway 812. Consequent to the stop, reports state, officers determined that his driving license had been suspended. They also located suspected marijuana cigarettes in a cigarette pack in the vehicle.
• On Dec. 20 a fraud complaint was filed at an East Avenue location after a woman reported that someone had used her Walmart money card to make two purchases at a Towson, MD. Walmart location. The complainant had the card in her possession and has not travelled to Towson, MD.

• On Dec. 7 Morgan Elizabeth Bruce, 18, Rutledge, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to take a pair of earrings without paying for the items from a Jefferson Street store. According to reports, Bruce and another teen were observed walking through the store and holding items. When the two attempted to leave the store they were confronted by a Morgan County Sheriff's deputy who questioned the girls on what had happened to the items they were holding. The second girl told the officer that she had placed the items back on the shelf. The deputy stated that while a store owner was with the second girl he observed Bruce remove the earrings from her pants pocket and place them on a shelf. She was then arrested. Both girls were served with trespass notices for the store.
• On Dec. 6 a larceny complaint was filed at a West Washington Street condominium after a woman reported that someone had removed three Louis Vuitton purses from a vacant condominium. The woman said she was using the vacant condominium for storage. She said she had placed the purses in the space in July but had been out of the state for several months. She valued the purses at $2,000.
• On Dec. 6 Eddie B. Haley, 30, Madison was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. According to reports, Haley was stopped by a Madison officer who reported that Haley had active warrants for his arrest out of Clarke County. The officer reported that following the stop he contacted Clarke County authorities and was told to detain Haley. Consequent to Haley's detention the officer searched a jacket that allegedly belongs to Haley and located a small bag of suspected marijuana in a jacket pocket.

• On Nov. 24 a larceny from coin machine complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road laundry mat after a man reported that someone had cut the locks off two washing machines and removed the quarters from the machines.
• On Nov. 20 James Darrell Wanambwa, 20, Sparta, and Terrell Carroll, 25, Savannah, were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and possession of controlled substance in a drug-free commercial zone after a Toyota Avalon driven by Wanambwa was stopped on Interstate 20 for speeding. According to reports, after the stop an officer reported that he detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located a Pringles potato chip canister with a false bottom. In the false bottom compartment officers allegedly located marijuana and five small blue Ziplock bags that contained suspected cocaine.
• On Nov. 21 Belinda Harris, 56, Madison, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to take several items from an Eatonton Road grocery store without paying for the items. Reports state that a customer in the store notified management that Harris was placing items in her purse. When Harris approached the checkout area, reports state, a manager informed her that police were going to “handle” the activity. Reports state that Harris then removed the items from her purse and asked that management not call police. She then fled the store but was located at a Hough Circle residence. Items removed from her purse include two packs of ribs, two rib eye steaks, dry pinto beans and onion dip.
