• On January 4 a larceny complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway liquor store after a woman reported that someone had tendered a counterfeit $100 bill. The woman had no description on who had tendered the bill.
• On January 10 a possible child abuse complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway location after a woman called authorities and said that a man had choked a young girl in the parking lot of a restaurant. Officers responded to the restaurant and interviewed the family. A man told authorities he had grabbed his daughter’s arm and forced her against a car because she had “thrown a tantrum” regarding eating at the restaurant. Officers interviewed the girl who collaborated her father’s statement. They could find no marks on the girl’s throat.
• On January 8 Treyohn Robert Gibbs, 17, Madison, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after he allegedly took men’s underwear, t-shirts and socks from an Eatonton Highway department store without paying. According to reports, officers located Gibbs at an Orchard Grove apartment and recovered the items at the apartment. The value of the items is $8.03.

• On January 1 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at a Madison Avenue location after a woman reported that a man known to her had broken a front window of her residence and attempted to enter the residence. The man fled the area before police arrived. A pane of glass was found outside the residence.
• On December 31 a theft of mislaid property complaint was filed at the Madison Police Department after a woman reported that she had lost her purse at an unknown location in Madison while shopping. The woman said she did not realize the purse was missing until she arrived in Milledgeville. The purse contained her wallet, Social Security card, several credit cards and $60 in cash.
• On December 24 Evelyn King, 61, Madison was arrested and charged with shoplifting after she allegedly took two bottles of aspirin while she was working at a North Main Street convenience store. According to reports the store’s alleged theft was captured on in-store video.
• On December 31 a larceny from building complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after a woman reported that a woman known to her had pushed her face with a beer bottle, poured beer on her and then shattered the bottle against a wall. Reports indicate that the woman had a wet substance on her shirt. Officers talked to the suspect and she said that the two had a verbal confrontation and during the confrontation she had waved the bottle and some of the liquid had spilled onto the complainant.

• On December 22 a harassing communications report was filed at a Pearl Street location after a woman reported that a woman known to her had been making threats via cell phone and email since June. The woman said she was concerned for her safety and did not know to what extent the other woman would carry out the threats. An officer listened to a recording of a phone all received by the complainant on December 15 and reported that he heard various threats of bodily harm. The woman also said the other woman had applied for a temporary protective order against the complainant but the complainant had not made any threats to the woman, she said.
• On December 21 a harassing communications complaint was filed at a South Main Street location after a woman reported that she had spoken to an employee regarding the completion of a task and that the employee used profanity towards her and threatened her with harm. The woman said she told the employee to leave but at first he would not but then did when she called 911. The woman said the man was terminated and that recently she had heard that he was continuing to make threats against her in the community.
• On December 19 a 15-year-old male was arrested at a Vine Street location for being unruly after his mother called police. Reports state that an officer arrived and observed the teen on the front porch of the house cursing loudly and being held by another family member. The mother told authorities that the teen has been kicked out of the Morgan County School system for being unruly and that she cannot control the teen. The officer also observed that authorities have been called to the same location on several occasions all in regard to the teen’s behavior.

• On December 12 damage to property complaint was filed at a Village Road location after a man reported that someone had damaged the power box supplying power to his residence. The man said he realized that the box had been damaged when he lost power. According to reports officers believe the box was struck by a vehicle, which was not at the scene at the time of the report.
• On December 14 a forgery of checks complaint was filed at a West Washington Street liquor store after a man at the store reported that a man had attempted to cash a $900 check written on a construction company’s account. The store did not cash the check because the man had no identification. A woman accompanying the man did cash a $768.35 check from the construction company. A man whose name was on the check told authorities that he had closed the construction company seven years ago. The man also said he recognized a photo of the man attempting to cash the check.
• On December 14 a shoplifting complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road convenience store after a man reported that two men entered the store and while one man engaged the clerk the other man stole a container holding approximately $40 in change that customers had donated to fight leukemia. The complainant said after the man left with the change the other man made a small purchase and then left.

• On December 12 a harassment complaint was filed at an Eatonton Highway truck stop after a man reported that someone had left a used condom on one of the drawers on his tool box. Reports state that the man requested that the condom be fingerprinted and that the substance in the condom has a DNA analysis completed. The officer told the complainant that the condom could not be fingerprinted and that to perform a DNA test the condom would have to be sent to the state crime lab, which would take considerable time. Reports state that the complainant then got angry and said, “So y’all aren’t going to do anything about this?” and left. The condom was taken and placed in an evidence bag.
• On December 9 an obstructing and fleeing and attempting to elude complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location after an officer reported that he had stopped a man driving a red BMW for an equipment violation. After the stop, reports state, the man produced a registration card for the vehicle and told the officer that his name was “Chip Dubie” and that he did not have his driver’s license on his person. As the officer was running the man’s name and other information the man exited the vehicle and fled. The officer determined that the vehicle had been taken from an Aqua Road address and the owner of the vehicle said she had not given anyone permission to take the vehicle. She also said she might have left the keys in the vehicle when she left the house that day. The suspect was not located.
• On December 9 a burglary complaint was filed at an East Avenue location after a woman reported that when she came home she noticed her rear door ajar and that someone had removed a 32” and 19” Toshiba flat screen television and a Toshiba lap top computer. There were tire tracks in the back yard, reports state.

• On December 4 Matthew Reyner Vonlalben, 28, Stone Mountain was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a drug related object and DUI after officers with the City of Madison and Morgan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint that a vehicle Vonlalben was driving was swerving.
According to reports the complainant reported that Vonlalben’s Ford Ranger pickup truck was speeding up and then slowing.
Eventually, reports state, the truck stopped on the emergency lane of Interstate 20 before driving back across the roadway and into the median where it became stuck.
After officers arrived they allegedly located a pipe in the vehicle that Vonlalben said he had used earlier to smoke methamphetamine with his girlfriend.
• On December 3 an identity theft complaint was filed at a Four Lakes Drive location after a woman reported that her bank had notified her that the address for her account information had been changed. The woman reported that she had not made the request. The request, which had been approved, had moved the account’s address from Madison to North Carolina.
• On December 4 a damage to property complaint was filed at a Confederate Road convenience store after a man reported that someone had cut his telephone line.
The man said he reported that his phone was not operating and when the phone service personnel arrived to repair the system they told the complainant that his phone line had been deliberately cut.
• On December 3 a burglary complaint was filed at a Penor Street location after a woman reported that someone entered her house and removed a 32” flat screen television, a .22 caliber rifle and some silver coins.
