July 23, 2009

Madison Police Department

    • On July 18 a damage to property complaint was filed at the Wal-Mart parking lot after a woman reported that someone had used an object to place a deep scratch in the left rear fender of her 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier.
    • On July 17 a terroristic threats complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road fast food restaurant after a woman reported that someone called the restaurant and threatened to kill a woman.
    • On July 16 a burglary complaint was filed at a Town Walk Circle location after a man reported that someone had entered a property and removed a $300 GE microwave oven. During the theft a glass stove top was damaged and a door frame was damaged.
    • On July 15 a larceny complaint was filed at an Overlook Drive location after a woman reported that while enroute from Michigan to Madison on a bus, someone entered the woman’s purse and removed a wallet. The wallet contained a driver’s license, social security card, bank card, birth certificate, medical insurance and $35 in currency.
    • On July 16 Melvin Reid, 39, of Madison was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, terroristic threats, battery obstructing a 911 call and simple battery after he allegedly threatened a family with a hammer. According to reports, Reid allegedly struck a woman in the mouth, pulled out part of her hair and then removed several cell phones from family members before leaving the residence. Officers confiscated a hammer in the oven of the residence.

July 16, 2009

    • On July 9 a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were both arrested and charged with loitering after they led officers on a chase near Madison’s Hill Park. Reports state that an officer observed four males walking near Crawford Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. and when he turned his patrol car around the males fled. Another officer responded and two of the males were found hiding in bushes off South Main Street. Both juveniles denied knowledge of the other juveniles. Both were charged and released to relatives.
    • On July 5 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at Morgan County High School after a woman reported that sometime between July 3 and July 5 someone entered the school and ransacked eight to 10 rooms at the school. The offenders also ate two containers of yogurt in one of the classrooms and threw potato chips on the floor. They also sprayed a fire extinguisher in one of the rooms.
    • On July 8 Michael Hyman, 47, Madison was arrested and charged with giving false name after an officer responded to another officer’s request for aid in securing a man running. The officer reported that when Hyman was stopped he allegedly told them his name was Michael Revere. When officers ran a criminal check on Michael Hyman they were told that he had several outstanding warrants against him.
    • On July 9 an interference with a business complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road bank after a woman reported that someone had dropped a “stink” bomb in the vestibule between the bank’s front door and the lobby area.

    • On June 30 a burglary complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road storage location after a man reported that 13 storage units had been burglarized. According to reports, among the items taken included a 60’ Emerson flat panel television, a Yardman 41’ 16-horsepower lawn mower, a Craftsman riding lawnmower, six antique carpenter tools, two antique claw hammers, a draw knife, a wooden level and an old-fashioned siren.
    • On June 29 an obstructing a court order complaint was filed at a Green Meadow Drive location after a woman reported that while she was driving on Harris Ave. and was going to make a left turn on Washington Street when two women stepped in front of her car. The complainant said she has a good behavior warrant against both women. The women allegedly cursed at the complainant, reports state. The woman returned home and while she was talking to officers regarding the situation the two women allegedly stood in front of the woman’s house and cursed her and made an obscene gesture with a finger.  The officer advised the woman to leave the scene. All three women cursed at each other in front of the officer.
    • On July 1 a larceny from auto complaint was filed at a College Drive location after a man reported that someone entered his unlocked 2004 Chevrolet Z71 and removed a Garmin GPS system valued at $130 and a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber pistol valued at $250. Someone had also entered a 2008 Acura RD at the same location but nothing was reported missing.

    • On June 27 a simple assault complaint was filed at a Sulgrave Drive location after a woman reported that two hours earlier a woman had started a fight with a 16-year-old girl who is the guardian of the complainant. Reports state that the woman approached the teen in the car, requested a fight and then commenced to strike the teen. Officers located the suspected woman who said that the 16-year-old had confronted her and started the fight. Several persons attempted to stop the fight and were allegedly struck during the attempt. Reports state that “several people tried to break the fight up and most of them were hit in the process.”

    • On June 28 a simple assault complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road convenience store parking lot after a man reported that a man who was currently visiting his estranged wife allegedly pulled a gun on the complainant and told the complainant to “get out of my face.” Reports state that the man reported that the man waved a possible 40-caliber handgun at the complainant. Officers spoke with the man and the estranged wife. The man and the estranged wife both reported that the complainant had allegedly threatened to kill the gun waving man at least three times and, the woman reported, at one point had waved a tool at the man. The man said after the alleged death threat he drove to the convenience store for gas. He said that while he was at the gas pumps the man allegedly began to confront and threaten him again. He said at that point he did show the man his pistol and the man allegedly said, “he was not afraid of the gun and that he had one too.”

Madison Police Department

    • On June 16 a simple battery complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road address after a woman reported that after her 17-year-old son had exited a grocery store, a 16-year –old male walked up to the woman’s son asked his name and when the 17-year-old replied the other youth struck the 17-year-old in the face. Reports state that officers located the 16-year-old who reported that he “never liked” the 17-year-old “so he just hit him.” The 16-year-old’s parents were contacted and a court date will be established.
    • On June 19 a criminal trespass complaint was filed at a Cedar Drive location after a woman reported that someone had attempted to flatten the tires of her 2007 Lincoln Town Car. The tire sustained three gouge marks.
    • On June 19 a simple assault complaint was filed at a Levi Court location after a 15-year-old girl reported that while she was at a friend’s house, a 21-year-old male came into the house and made lewd comments to the girl, popped her bra strap two times and allegedly struck her on the head.
    • On June 20 a simple assault and pointing a pistol at another complaint was filed at a Creek Point Drive location after a woman reported that a man known to her approached her while she was sitting in her car on Hough Circle. The woman said the man entered the vehicle and allegedly cursed her and struck her in the head. The woman said two days later the man requested a meeting in a parking lot in downtown Madison. The woman said when she arrived the man began to curse her and allegedly pointed a gun at her.
