Hilda Hollis Hanes, 89, passed away at Summer’s Landing in Monroe Saturday, July 13, 2013.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 15 at A. E. Carter Funeral Home located in Madison. Elder Gus Harter of Bethany Primitive Baptist Church officiated. Visitation was held earlier Monday starting at 11 a.m. Burial was at The Davis Family Cemetery in Rutledge.
She was born in Madison on October 22,1923. She married Robert “Lamar” Hanes on October 17, 1944, a few days after his return from his service in World War II. They were happily married for 37 years.
Mrs. Hanes was a homemaker and always enjoyed taking care of others. She loved attending church at Bethany Primitive Baptist Church, where she was an active and beloved member. Her pastimes included gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter Marla Kittle, son-in-law Warren Kittle, two grandchildren Laura (Mrs. Andy) Briscoe and Robert Kittle and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lamar Hanes, her parents Joseph Morgan Hollis and Mellie Knight Hollis and six older siblings.
Memorial donations may be given to Bethany Primitive Baptist Church in Suwanee.
