The Morgan County High School Lady Dogs softball team is gearing up for preseason events before school starts in the next couple of weeks.

Last Saturday, members of the Lady Dogs got together at Heritage Park to raise funds for the MCHS softball booster club.

On July 22 and 23, the varsity and junior varsity Lady Dogs will be traveling to Dahlonega to take part in the Dan Davis Invitational, with games being held at the University of North Georgia and the Lumpkin County High School.

During the course of the two-day event, the Lady Dogs will compete in five games, in total, making the short tournament a rigorous part of the softball programs’ pre-season.

“This tournament will serve as sort of a July version of spring training for us,” said varsity softball Head Coach Doug Connelly about the Dan Davis Invitational.

The Lady Dogs will hold another car wash fundraiser on Friday, July 26 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Wendy’s in Madison.

Right now, the schedules for the upcoming varsity and junior varsity schedules can be accessed online at http://goo.gl/8rMkE and http://goo.gl/PSozE, respectively, which link to www.maxpreps.com, which is associated with the Georgia High School Association.
