It’s ding dang HOT y’all! And I ain’t just talkin’ ‘bout the weather! That’s ‘cause my hot, hot, hot pepper patch is flat ROCKIN’ it out of the garden! Lord have MERCY! Momma and I have flat out done ourselves this summer! That means we are all set to WIN, WIN, WIN this year’s 9th Annual Madison Chili Cook-Off! It ain’t never too soon to start preppin’ for this international event that’s held right here at Town Park! It’s slated for Saturday, Oct. 5! Y’all call the City of Madison at 706-342-1251 x208 for more intel! But, beware: Momma is mad. She’s motivated. And, the peppers this year are PERF! We’re goin’ for the gold! Oh and Momma’s already sewin’ her Hot Off The Presses Pepper Suit! Look out!

That’s right y’all! Fall will not only bring us the Chili Cookoff! We’re fixin’ to get our very own movie theater! Hey! We’ll be able to catch a bite to eat along with a movie right smack here in Madison! I’m talkin’ all ‘bout Ricky D’s and Retro Cinema located at 138 East Jefferson St., in downtown Madison! Right so I just met up with owner Dana Kibbey to get the scoop! Ok so Dana says the front part of the building will be the Ricky D’s restaurant servin’ casual fare (more on that in a future column) and the middle part of the building will be Retro Cinema which will feature classic movies as well as some really cool documentaries along with speakers. The back part will be the wine bar! Yes! They will be servin’ beer and wine durin’ movie showings! I flat can’t wait! Anyhow, Dana, who previously operated Retro Cinema in Washington, Ga., flat knows what she’s talkin’ ‘bout and plans to open the new Madison business this Fall! I cannot wait!

Rinnnng. Rinnnng. Rinnng. Hold on y’all. Hey Ricardo! What? We’ll be there with bells on for sure! Ok so that was Ricardo of Ricardo’s Kouzzina located at 271 West Washington St., in downtown Madison! He wanted me to tell all y’all that beginnin’ this Sunday night from 6 p.m. til 9 p.m. Ricardo’s will be groovin’ to some fantastic LIVE MUSIC! Yes! Hey and this Sunday night will feature local musicians Garrett Gardner, Ben Shytle and Mitchell Blanton! WOW! I flat can’t wait!
