Precinct closings are a logical decision, not an emotional one

To the Editor:

I attended the second meeting relating to consolidation of nine voting precincts into five.

In my humble opinion, it is a matter of logic versus emotions. The Election Board has found that it is logical to reduce the number — to simplify voting and save money. Those who want to keep the nine precincts want to do so for emotional reasons: they like the status quo for various personal reasons. The argument that reducing the number will make it too hard for some people to vote is specious and without legitimate basis.
