Doris Pinson Freeman, 88, of Madison died at Family Life Enrichment Center, High Shoals Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013.
She was born on September 6, 1924 in Monroe the daughter of Jimmy and Vashtie Milligan of Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1942. Mrs. Freeman attended business school and received a certificate of War Time Achievement in Business. She received many awards for not missing a day and for not being tardy from school. She was a braider operator at Wellington from 1961-1989. After she retired she enjoyed baby-sitting her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters of Madison Elaine Alldredge and Henry, Ronda Scruggs and Hershel, Carolyn George and Gene of Rutledge and David Freeman; a sister Runell Smith of Monroe, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren one great, great grand son and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband Robert Freeman; her parents Jimmy and Vashtie Milligan, two sons Wayne Pinson and Keith Pinson and one nephew Randy Smith, and one grandchild James Robert Pinson.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 7 at A. E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. in the chapel at A. E. Carter Funeral Home Thursday, August 8 with Jace Milligan officiating and Kaitlin Buffington singing, “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away.”
Interment followed at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Monroe.
