Well it has been a great month out here in the farming country of Morgan County.  God has blessed us with so much rain that the Cotton Fields may be the tallest I have seen in 25 years.  I know nothing about Cotton farming, but it looks to me like there will be a great harvest. God is so good!

God has also blessed us here at Centennial Baptist Church this summer.  Just for the month of August, we have added 16 new members and have baptized every Sunday!  We also have others awaiting baptism in the coming weeks.  God is alive and well and His Holy Spirit is working here in this place.  We set a goal this summer to make 7,500 outreach contacts through the Sunday school and so far have made 6,639.  WOW, that is a lot of calls, cards and invites!  God is really blessing our efforts.

Dr. Steve Parr, our Interim Pastor, has been preaching a series titled “The Bible” on Sunday mornings.  It will end on Labor Day weekend.  On Sunday nights, he is preaching a series through the book of 1 Timothy titled, “Lead On.”  If you would like to listen to these great messages, you can find them on our podcast at

We are excited to announce that we birthed a new ministry this summer!  It is our ‘College and Career’ group, for ages 18-22.  We are meeting every other week on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30, for a time of fellowship, food, Bible study and encouragement.  Call the church office at 706-557-2120 and ask for Donnie if you are interested in being a part of this ministry and I will get you plugged in. Let me encourage you today with the Word! Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
