A 16-year-old male was arrested on August 22 after a 200 yard foot chase and charged with receiving a stolen vehicle, giving false information, obstruction and possession of controlled substances.
According to Madison Police Department reports, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store, Eatonton Road, in reference to a suspicious male sitting in a pickup truck near employee parking.
When officers arrived, they located the juvenile sitting in the truck. The juvenile told officers that he was waiting for his uncle to return home. Officers then determined that the truck had been reported stolen out of Newton County. When an officer attempted to arrest the juvenile he fled on foot into a wooded area. Reports state that after an approximately 200-yard foot chase, the juvenile turned toward an approaching officer and was tased and arrested.
Following the arrest, reports state, officers located two air assault guns and gas-powered BB revolver in the vehicle hidden under clothing. Reports state that one of the orange tips on an air assault gun had recently been painted black and that a can of black spray paint was found in the vehicle.
Officers also located a prescription bottle of 14 tablets of Tramadol in the vehicle.
