Local interior designer Shane Meder is headed for television fame this month! Meder, the owner and principal designer at Atlanta-based Black Sheep Interiors who also occupies a large retail space at Madison Markets in Madison, will star later this month on Home And Style. The Atlanta-based television show, hosted by Donna Davis, will feature Meder’s latest design triumph, a home on Lake Oconee at Reynolds.
The home’s design was a “romance” story between the homeowners and the home, explained Meder. “The inspiration for the interiors of the project was driven by the homeowners, Neil and Elaine Hobbs. Their sense of style combined with their European influence can be seen throughout the home. The graceful and unassuming interiors will provide both casual and entertaining years on the lake.
“It was my sense of responsibility as the interior designer, assisted by design associate Emily Creighton, to help the Hobbs’ in orchestrating beautiful fabrics, custom furniture and draperies,” he said.
According to Meder, the color scheme used in the house was eggplant, Royal aborigine and champagne, cream and silver.
Lake Oconee’s DreamBuilt firm also was involved in the project.
The Home And Style television show featuring Meder is slated to air Saturday, Sept. 28 on WCTV in Atlanta. According to Davis, the show is designed to entertain and inform its target market of women over 35. “It has a slow pace and a beautiful look. The topics of interior design, beauty and travel are meant to help viewers get inspired and help them make informed decisions on everything from selecting a remodeler to choosing a plastic surgeon. We really want to encourage viewers to tell us the things they want to see,” she said.
Produced in Marietta, Home And Style began airing in Atlanta in 2006 and since then has aired on numerous nationwide satellite networks and is often branded for the city or state in which it airs.
Meder has been practicing design for more than 20 years. The firm’s projects are concentrated on new construction throughout the Atlanta and Lake Oconee region, but their work has also included the interior design of estates in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Hilton Head, Brussels and London. In addition, Meder launched The Shane Meder Collection lines of noble woods and fine home furnishings. He has won numerous awards from the Atlanta area design community. Southern Living chose Meder as the designer for their first Idea House. He is the former host of the TV series Creating Style with Shane Meder which aired nationally on NBC.
Meder and his partner Don Schoenberger own a home on Lake Oconee that was featured on the cover of last summer’s Lake Oconee Living magazine.
