After a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday in Athens I visited my sister Alice Cheatham, nephew Donald Cheatham and a long-time friend Inez Kennedy whom I had not seen in a very long time. We grew up together in Athens, then when we both married we moved in different directions. Sure was good to see her again. My nephew runs a garage, Inez had brought her car there to have him check the brakes or something, she and Donald are cousins on his dad’s side of the family.

Dot Stewart was host to a 31 gifts party at Brownwood Family Life Center Saturday afternoon. Peggy Harper and Margie Ward were among those attending.

Prayer

Preaching moves men, prayer moves God.

A saint is a person whose life makes it easier to believe in God.

Peace of mind depends upon strength of mind.

Some people talk more about their problems than praying for them.

Some people pray one way then live another.

Life is fragile – handle with prayer.

Prayer: Lord don’t let anything come my way that we cannot handle.

Prayer need not be long when faith is strong.

The prayers of a man on his feet are just as important as those he says on his knees.

No one can live wrong and pray right – no one can pray right and live wrong.

To walk with God we must make it a practice to talk with God.

True prayer is a way of life, not just a case of emergency.

Tarry at a promise until God meets you there.

If prayer does not drive sin out of your life sin will drive prayer out.

Prayer is the child’s helpless cry to the Father’s attentive ear.

Long prayers in public could indicate short prayers in private.

Prayer and praise are like the wings of a bird – both must work together.

By praying learn to pray.

Morning prayers lead to evening praise. Frequent prayers lessen daily cares.

Pray for the sick and shut-ins.
