The vocalists among us without a musical home – or maybe those who want another outlet – are in luck, as are music lovers throughout Morgan County.
Community-based choral ensemble, the Madison Chamber Singers, “dedicated to preserving the joy of music-making with audiences in Madison and beyond,” has started performances in the area, including one last Thursday night, Oct. 3, with Morgan County Middle School choruses.
“Music-making can be an enormously powerful experience, and this can be witnessed through the many wonderful musical traditions around the world,” Jared Register, Madison Chamber Singers founder and conductor, wrote in an e-mail to the Citizen. “By sharing our diverse repertoire with the community, we not only increase an appreciation of music for our audiences, but offer a choral singing experience to members who may not have an opportunity otherwise.”
Register founded the Madison Chamber Singers this year, and has planned two future concerts, one holiday and one in the spring, both of which will be held at the Morgan County High School Auditorium. The group will perform a variety of music, including world music, modern American compositions and spirituals, he writes.
Madison Chamber Singers is open to high school students and adults. Any community member interested in becoming part of this ensemble should contact Register at email@example.com.
