Fall Festival Sugar Creek Baptist Church, Saturday, Oct. 19, 5-8 p.m. 1000 Sugar Creek Church Road, Madison. Too many activities to name them all: cake walks for adults and children, face painting, popcorn, hair “fixin’,” funnel cakes, hay rides, music, games, just to name a few.

Pretty squash, punkins’, changing leaves, cool breezes, oh, and the falling leaves, just a few things to remind us that fall is here. Don’t you just love to rake leaves?

Sunday was a great day for our congregation. It being Pastor Appreciation Day and serving our pastor and his wife with gifts, then following the morning service all that could and would treked down to Rock Eagle and ate a delicious buffet meal. We had a good crowd going this way and all came away with great satisfaction.

Sunday morning, Butch took his message from Exodus 33, talking to us about the desire for God’s presence. Do you really want to dwell in His presence? Where would we be if we did not lean and trust Him in our daily lives? Sunday night Butch preached from Revelation 2 beginning with verse 12 and the Church of Pergamos. Good attendance for both services.

This coming Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. come join with us for our Fall Festival. I’m again in charge of the cake walks for adults and April will be working the walks for the younger groups. This works really well and winds up with every kid getting a delicious cupcake. Face painting, hair “doing,” funnel cakes, music, jail, pie in the face – our pastor and deacons “volunteered” for this event – many other fun stuff to do with hot dogs and the fixings, a fun time for all ages. This is an event but a donation box will be set up if you have a desire to donate; it will be much appreciated.

Gayle and Jimmy visited us one day this week. I think Jimmy took the week off to hunt but his garden was making a final call and other things to do around the house. Finally got off to hunt a few days.

It was good to have Caleb Bell home for a long weekend from Mobile, Ala. Caleb is in college in Mobile and has been called to Foley United Methodist Church to help do the Lord’s work there. Congratulations, Caleb, we love you.

Hey, don’t forget the Saturday night auctions down at Crawfordville at 6 p.m. This Saturday Rodney Bowles will be there. I’ll announce this one early so you can mark your calendar now. There’ll be a big sale on Thanksgiving night. Beginning at 5 p.m. Gary Hilborn from New York will be there with Christmas gifts, fishing stuff and lots of other good bargains. I know him and he has great deals.

I wish I had more details and I’m writing this asking for prayer: Our friends from Decatur and neighbors now here on Fraction Bottom Road, Tim, Theresa and Rachael Moore, most know them in this area as they are members of Buckhead Baptist, Tim and Rachael were in a bad wreck, some time this weekend, wish I knew more details. Looking at the truck I don’t know how either came out alive, but praises to God they did. I understand that Rachael has gone through surgery and is still in the hospital. I ask that you pray for this special girl and her mama and daddy during this time. We know that God is hovering around her and that is a consolation. If anyone knows more about this accident, please call me. Theresa is the former Theresa Cudd and we were friends and members of the same church for  years.

Still announcing this, November will be here before we know it. The Lord’s Messenger’s along with Clint Butler and His Way will be at Oakley’s Gospel Barn on Nov. 2. This will be the last one of the year 2013. Food and fellowship will start at 4 p.m. with singing at 6 p.m.

So glad that Betty Walker was able to get to church on Sunday morning, she being the caregiver of her loved ones. Remember her sick ones, remember all others in our congregation, so many.

Let me wish Monaray Powers a very special birthday today (Monday). Hey, it’s even a holiday for her except she can’t be off. It’s Columbus Day and most government business places closed in her honor. Also happy birthday to Wanitta Guinn and, forgive me, I forgot her married name, and Patsy Greene on the 17th. Anniversary blessings for Becky and Ricky Stovall on the 23rd.

I found this on the internet and thought it too good not to share with you, especially if you like lemons as I do: “The value of lemon water: Hey, first one it cures constipation and it relieves the hiccups, also helps to dissolve gall stones.” More next week…

So until next week, may the Lord bless you real good.
