The Town of Buckhead’s government is working to get the public playground up to safety standards. At Monday’s meeting, the council discussed buying certain parts wholesale and agreed to look further into the costs of renovating the playground.

The council also decided to wait to sign an elections agreement with the Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration until typos in the document are corrected.

The council voted, in a previous meeting, to purchase two new trees for the town’s park area; the old Christmas tree was in need of replacing, and the council agreed to purchase a new one. They also decided to move the tree to another area.

To fill in the space where the old tree was, the council purchased another tree to take its place. Both trees have since been planted in their respected areas.

In related news, the council decided that this year’s tree lighting will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. The evening will include music by local choirs and the middle school jazz band. Santa Claus will also make an appearance at the event.
