• Morgan County Master Gardeners are hosting a meet-and-greet event on Monday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m., called “What worked last year, may not work this year.” Shelly Prescott is a graduate of the University of Georgia, with a degree in Horticulture. He is employed by the State Botanical Garden and has been Chairman of the Georgia Gold Medal Committee. He is passionate about UGA football and plants! • Please join the Madison Artists Guild for the opening of MAG’s XLG Show, “Vessels and Views,” at Town 220 Restaurant & Gallery from 6-8 p.m. The public is invited to meet the artists, share a glass of wine, and enjoy light refreshments. Landscape artists that will be part of the show are Bill Turner, Tom Crowther, Dana Johns and Greg Benson. Not only will this show feature several artists displaying landscape paintings in oil and acrylics, a special exhibit of three-dimensional artwork is also included. • Champion the lung cancer cause by registering today for the sixth annual Free to Breathe Athens 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk on Nov. 16 at Sandy Creek Park, 400 Bob Holman Road, Athens, GA 30607. 7:30 a.m., registration and check-in; 8:15 a.m., announcements and warm-up; 8:30 a.m., 5K Run begins; 8:45 a.m., 1-Mile Walk begins; and 9:30 a.m., rally and awards presentation. The inspirational event will bring the community together to raise funds that will fuel groundbreaking research necessary for making the dramatic breakthroughs in early detection and treatment that can save lives.
