Last Thursday, the Madison-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce issued an email stating that two local businesses had been contacted by a caller claiming to be a representative for “Spirit Wear,” and asking the businesses to buy an advertisement for the back of t-shirts to be distributed at Morgan County Middle School (MCMS) events but that had “not contracted with anyone to solicit such advertising.” Morgan County High School Athletic Director Steve Cisson confirmed the Chamber of Commerce’s information. Cisson stated that, from time to time, the Morgan County School System will ask businesses to sponsor events, but that such requests come directly from the school system and all of the proceeds go to Morgan County athletics. “We don’t let out of town businesses recruit our merchants,” said Cisson.
