Attendance for worship service on Sunday morning, Dec.22 at Brownwood was good, visitors were present and we missed everyone that wasn’t with us on that day.
As we were planning for church the promise of rain was among us and sure enough during the worship service the rain did begin and lasted all day and night on into Monday and even on Sunday night we had thunder and lightning around bed time.
To open the morning service we had prayer, then James Butler sang, “Birthday of the King.” Pastor Ron then had the children’s church message, “Jesus is the Greatest Gift.” Peggy Harper then sang, “Mary, Did You Know?” The congregation sang several Christmas Hymns. Bro. Ron’s message, “Glory Story,” Luke 2 and Gen. 3:15. Brownwood had Christmas Eve service on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. Attendance was good.
The congregation sang, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” A special by Jonathan Swann on saxophone, Jessica Swann on flute, Abby Janson on clarinet and Caitlin Butler on the piano presenting, “O Come All Ye Faithful.” Bro, Ron brought the message before The Lord’s Supper was observed. Kendra Hall of Allenhurst and daughter of Greg Hall visited Peggy Harper and family over the weekend of December 21. Margie Ward visited Betty Bailey and Lon Davis Tuesday afternoon. James Harold and Ellen Smith had their family Christmas get together at their home on Christmas Eve. Peggy Harper visited Clint and Mindy Grubbs and family on Christmas Eve to watch the children open their gifts.
On Christmas morning Brandon, Gail and John Grubbs, Greg Hall and Peggy Harper went to Sammie, Christy and Carter Brown and Emma Vaughn’s house and had a Happy Birthday Jesus Breakfast. Christmas morning Margie Ward went to Sonny, Mary, Rebekah, Rachel and Zach Wood’s house to see what they had gotten for Christmas. Too much to name.
Zach had to show me how he could ride his new bike. Dawn Hall of Fairfax, Virginia and daughter of Greg Hall visited Peggy Harper and family on Christmas Eve. Julie and Billy Phillips, Sarah and James Folsom of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sonny, Mary, Rebekah, Rachel and Zach Wood enjoyed Christmas dinner with Margie Ward on Christmas Day. Afterwards they had a fun time opening gifts. Peggy Harper had their Family Christmas gathering at her home Thursday night. After the meal they all enjoyed a white elephant gift exchange. Twenty-three were present and all had a good time being together.
