Morgan County High School (MCHS) senior Tevin Waller has been named to the Georgia Sportswriters’ 2013. All-State team. Waller was voted a spot as a defensive lineman on the second-team defense for the AAA class.
MCHS Head Football Coach Bill Malone was a deciding factor in Waller’s receiving the award.
“I nominated him for the All-State team about three weeks ago and thought he had a good chance to make the team,” said Coach Malone.
“He is very deserving, especially after his dominating performance in the Northeast Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star game.”
Waller was also recognized as the Region 8-AAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year following his performances during the 2013 season.
According to Malone, Kevin Weston, Head Coach of the football team at Clark Atlanta University, visited Waller last week concerning his plans following graduation.
“I expect he will be recruited by a number of schools in January and February,” said Malone. “He is a great kid, always smiling and has a kind word for everyone,” continued Malone.
“One of the best guards I’ve ever coached. We’ll miss him next year on the field and in our school.”
