Upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). The CHURCH, believers in Christ from every age and culture, and the LOCAL CHURCH, individual congregations of redeemed people, haven been chosen by God to accomplish His earthly purpose – calling out people to represent Him, and with whom He can share eternity.

The promise of Christ is that nothing – not even the gates of hell – will stop His purpose or the ultimate triumph of His church.

The first account of a New Testament church is given in Acts 2:41-47. From these scriptures we see the purpose of the local church: The Local Church worships together, The Local Church evangelizes together, The Local Church learns the truth together, The Local Church fellowships together and The Local Church reaches out together. As the New Year begins we need to renew our commitments to these great guidelines for the church.

Let God be God, let the Church be the church, let His people rejoice! It is going to be an exciting New Year at Centennial Baptist Church. This coming Sunday we have our Senior Pastoral Candidate coming to preach in view of a call at the 10:30a.m. service.

Please pray for him and his family, as they seek to follow God in this move to Rutledge. God is moving out here on the edge of Morgan County. We are striving to be an Acts 2:41-47 church. Come be our guest, we would love to minister to you! For more information, please visit our website at: www.centennialbaptist.org, or contact us by calling 706-557-2120. We are located in Rutledge at the corner of Brownwood & Centennial Roads. Our address is Centennial Baptist Church, 5321 Brownwood Road, Rutledge, GA, 30663.
