Lake Oconee Living magazine invites the community to celebrate the “Best of Lake Oconee” during its annual Red Carpet Awards Gala on Jan. 18 at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, winner of this year’s “Best Art Gallery.”

Other winners of the magazine’s fifth-annual Readers’ Choice Awards will be revealed during the gallery-style awards ceremony that matches the winter issue’s “Work of Art” theme.

“With this issue, we highlighted our winners through creative plays on famous painters and iconic artwork to create a ‘masterpiece,’” says editor Andrea Gable.

“We were also able to incorporate local artists and their work to represent the 35 different categories, many of which will be on display during the gala.”

Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. as nominees arrive on the red carpet in limousines provided by A Classic Limousine in Madison.

Guests are encouraged to peruse the award-winning galleries of the Cultural Center which will feature the new “Georgia and Beyond” exhibit.

Awards will be presented at the Hall following the arrivals.

Food and drink during the event will be provided by winners of the “Best of Food & Dining Categories.” A silent auction will benefit the winners of the “Best Non-Profit Organization” – Oconee Regional Humane Society, Morgan County Boys & Girls Club, and Morgan County Humane Society.

The event is free and open to the public, however space is limited. Tickets will be available at the following local art galleries: Art of Oconee, Genuine Georgia, Kusillo Gallery, Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, Madison Artists Guild, Magnolia Art Gallery, The Plaza Arts Center, and the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art.

Will call tickets may also be reserved on Lake Oconee Living’s Facebook page or by calling (706) 342-7440. The event is black tie optional. Don’t miss a night to “paint the town red!” For more details, visit www.LakeOconeeLivingMag.com.
