Lake Oconee Living magazine invites the community to celebrate the “Best of Lake Oconee” during its annual Red Carpet Awards Gala on Jan. 18 at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, winner of this year’s “Best Art Gallery.”

Other winners of the magazine’s fifth-annual Readers’ Choice Awards will be revealed during the gallery-style awards ceremony that matches the winter issue’s “Work of Art” theme.

Local artists will have their work on display, transforming the Hall into an art gallery for the evening. This year’s event will include an exciting live auction component featuring items from local artists, a dinner for 20, and a collection of items from Thomas Arvid, known worldwide for his wine-themed realism.

“We are excited to see what the live auction will contribute to the event and to our non-profit beneficiaries,” says editor Andrea Gable.

“Atlanta artist Thomas Arvid graciously joined with our local artists and businesses to put wonderful items up for bid.”

The Arvid collection includes a set of limited edition mini-canvases, Arvid label wine and glasses, calendar, and invitations to a wine tasting at Vinings Gallery.

“Though the event is free, people will definitely want to bring along their checkbook for this auction.”

The live auction and silent auction will benefit the winners of the “Best Non-Profit Organization” – Oconee Regional Humane Society, Morgan County Boys & Girls Club, and Morgan County Humane Society. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. as nominees arrive on the red carpet in limousines provided by A Classic Limousine in Madison.

Guests are encouraged to peruse the award-winning galleries of the Cultural Center which will feature the new “Georgia and Beyond” exhibit. Awards will be presented at the Hall following the arrivals.

Food and drink during the event will be provided by winners of the “Best of Food & Dining Categories,” including Bone Island Grillhouse, Bulldog Supper Club, The Caboose, Georgia Butts, Da Corrado Ristorante, and Hallie Jane’s Catering.
