The construction of the Morgan County Fire and EMS station at the Morgan County Public Safety Complex is set for completion in March, said Fire Chief Mark Melvin.

“The station will house both Morgan County Fire Rescue and National EMS,” said Melvin. “We believe the addition of Station 16 will greatly improve the Fire and EMS coverage to the citizens of Morgan County. The station will house an Engine, Brush Truck, Squad and an ambulance.   The station is centrally located   and will allow Fire and EMS personnel easy access to all main roadways throughout the county.”

Battalion Chief Russell Thrasher is also looking forward to the merger. “It will be better suited to have the fire station and EMS running out of the same location, instead of separate places,” said Thrasher.

The $1.1 million SPLOST VI funded project was initiated to “add an additional Fire Station for increase Fire, EMS and ISO coverage within the county.

The station will house the career staff of the fire department and an ambulance from National EMS.  The station will be staffed by Fire personnel from 0700-1900 daily and National EMS will have 24 hour coverage. The volunteer Fire personnel will also have full access to the station to respond apparatus to an emergency,” explained Melvin.
