On January 24 a simple assault/ simple battery complaint was filed at a Hough Street location. According to reports, a man reported that a woman known to him had snatched a blue bag containing $167. An officer approached the Hough Street residence of the woman and the woman said she took the bag because the man allegedly took a cell phone that belonged to her. Reports state that the man was able to retrieve the bag but, he said, the bag was missing three $20 bills. The woman also said that earlier the man had attacked her.

On January 23 Macy Rae Purcell, 17, Madison, was arrested and charged with deposit account fraud. According to reports, Purcell allegedly deposited a $872 check from a Forest Park woman’s account and then withdrew the money from her account. The check was reported stolen to Henry County authorities who then contacted Madison authorities. Reports state that Purcell initially told police that she had received the check from a woman during a yard sale. She later retracted that statement but also refused to further discuss the incident with police.

On January 24 a larceny from auto complaint was filed at a Adrian’s Restaurant, West Washington Street. According to reports, a man stated that he mistakenly did not lock his Cadillac when he went into the restaurant. When he returned to the vehicle, reports state, someone had taken a Vera Bradley handbag, a black hand purse, a pair of prescription sunglasses, an IPhone and $90 in cash. The items belonged to the complainant’s wife and were valued at more than $700.
