On January 27 a pointing a pistol at another complaint was filed at a Morgan Circle location. According to reports, a man stated that after a man gave him a ride from an Eatonton Road convenience store to a West Washington Street liquor store, the man accused the complainant of taking his Ipod. The complainant said the man pointed a pistol at him and told him he would pull every tooth out of the complainant’s head. The complainant said he helped the man search for the Ipod and the device was located in the man’s truck.
On January 30 Erin Austin Shumate, 20, Rutledge, was arrested and charged with failure to maintain lane, possession of methamphetamine and drug related objects. According to reports, a Ford Econoline Shumate was driving was stopped for allegedly running over the fog line on Ward Road. Reports state that during a search of the vehicle a black pouch allegedly containing crystal methamphetamine, two syringes, clear and empty baggies and silver spoon was located. She was also charged with possession of a controlled substance in a commercial free zone.
On January 29 a larceny from building complaint was filed at the Travel Lodge motel, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a woman stated that someone had signed her name to accept a toner cartridge and then had kept the cartridge. The woman said she was out of town the day the cartridge arrived and that she had confirmation from the shipping company that it had been delivered.
On January 22 a larceny from building complaint was filed at the Travel Lodge motel, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a woman stated that after a couple had rented a room for approximately one month, they left the room and allegedly took linens and a comforter. The items are valued at $200.
On January 29 a fraud complaint was filed at a Micha Way location. According to reports, a woman stated that she received a notice from the Internal Revenue Service advising her that she owed $1,200 in unpaid taxes for the 2008 tax year. The woman said her last year of taxable employment was prior to 2008 and that she suspects her sister has stolen her identity.
On January 22 Dillion Howard, 20, Madison, was arrested and charged with simple battery. According to reports, Howard allegedly struck and pushed a woman on three different occasions and destroyed two of the woman’s phones and cut up the woman’s clothing with a pocket knife. The woman told officers that she had a physical confrontation with Howard at a Sulgrave Drive apartment complex. Reports state that the woman had a noticeable knot on her head. She also said she had taken pictures of bruising and cuts but that Howard had destroyed the camera she used to take the photos.
On January 23 an aggravated assault complaint was filed at the EZ Bottle Liquor store, West Washington Street. According to reports, a man stated that another man had struck him in the head with a beer bottle. The complainant had a visible injury and was taken by emergency services to Morgan Memorial Hospital. An officer located the man who allegedly struck the man with a beer bottle and were told that the complainant initiated the fight by striking him in the head with a metal pipe. Both a metal pipe and a broken beer bottle located outside the store were taken as evidence. The second man declined medical treatment.
