Laree Van Orden has accepted a full-ride scholarship to Gulf Coastal where she will join a team of elite softball players. Van Orden played three years of high school softball for the Morgan County Bulldogs. She has also played on numerous travel teams across the state of Georgia and in Alabama. Friends and family gathered Thursday to show their support of Van Orden as she signed her softball scholarship. “She has overcome some obstacles along the way and today is a testament to the things that she has been through,” said one of Van Orden’s coaches Kemp Crawford. Laree said that she is looking forward to progressing and improving her skills. Outside of softball, she hopes to major in either physical therapy or psychology. Her parents, Larry and Deanna Van Orden, expressed how proud they are of their daughter, stating that she’s worked hard for this and did everything on her own.
