MCHS golf team outscores Walnut Grove

Last Tuesday, March 4, the Morgan County High School (MCHS) golf team took on Walnut Grove High School at Hard Labor Creek. Morgan County’s girls beat Walnut Grove 169-180, while the boys beat Walnut Grove 164-230.

Morgan County’s Shelby Kinchen scored the low round of the match with a 53. Hayden Massey scored a 55 against Walnut Grove, and Mary Clark Ferguson finished with a 61. Eamon Owen scored an even par 36 for the boys’ second match of the season. Zach Webb posted a 40, while Baylie Fowler earned a 41. Carson Womack and Gregory Pecore scored 47 against Walnut Grove.

“This was a tough cold night and the Bulldog team played well,” said MCHS Coach Tom Duff after the match. The team played against Greene County Tuesday afternoon at Hard Labor Creek. They will be taking on Social Circle, Monticello, and Monroe today at Hard Labor Creek as well. On Friday, March 14, the boys will continue their region preview at Highland Walk. Next week, the MCHS team will host two matches at Hard Labor Creek. Monday, they take on Social Circle and Rabun County, and, Tuesday, they will face Oconee County.
