Boys’ golf takes second at Red Raider tourney

The Morgan County High School (MCHS) boys’ tennis team took second place at the Red Raider golf tournament last Saturday, March 22, in Royston. Last week, the MCHS girls beat Oconee County at Hard Labor Creek, but the boys lost to the Warriors in the same match.

The boys came in just behind Stephens County in the Red Raider tournament. Eamon Owen shot a low for the team with an 81, while Carson Womack shot an 83 and Zack Webb earned an 87.

The team total stood at 342. The boys’ and girls’ teams faced Oconee County at Hard Labor Creek last Tuesday, March 18. The girls beat Oconee 162 to 169 with Mary Clark Ferguson leading the team at 48.

Hayden Massey posted a 56 for the day, and Kayla Fortune earned a 58. The boys lost their first match of the year when they faced Oconee County, being outscored 159 to 175 by the Warriors. Zack Webb earned a 42 on the course, Eamon Owen hit a 43, and both Carson Womack and Baylie Fowler shot a 45.

Tuesday, the MCHS golf team played against Madison County at Hard Labor Creek. They will travel to the Harbor Club this Thursday to play Greene County. On Saturday, March 29, the boys will play in a tournament at White County.
