Anticipation is over! Retro Cinema at Ricky D’s opens this Saturday, March 29 at 139 East Jefferson St. across from the Madison-Morgan Courthouse! The new business features: a casual restaurant serving gourmet hotdogs, sandwiches, fabulous frozen custard and concessions; a 50-seat movie theater; and a beautiful wine bar called The Backstage that is accessible from the movie theater and from a separate street entrance.

Moviegoers will be able to enjoy a glass of wine while watching classic movies, foreign films, documentaries or a fabulous Indie! The inaugural Ricky D’s movie this Saturday marks a historic occasion.

It will be the first movie shown in a real theater in Madison since The Madison Theatre closed 44 years ago in 1970, located in downtown Madison in the building that is now home to The Jim Boyd agency. Among The Madison Theatres’ final 1970s movie showings were The Minx, Beyond The Valley of the Dolls and The Adventurers.

This weekend The Retro Cinema & Ricky D’s will be showing two movies: Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. Girl on a Bicycle – a romantic comedy rated R and on Sunday at 1 p.m. All Is Lost – an action adventure movie rated PG.
