Special to the Citizen
Debbie and Phil Caudle began growing herbs as a hobby, now with over sixty varieties of herbs they have began attending plant shows and farmers markets. Their inventory includes unusual and hard to find herbs.
Herbs have culinary, medicinal and fragrant properties as well as being used for butterfly and humming bird attractors. Herbs are a natural way to enhance the flavor of your food. Basil is great for making pesto or adding to tomatoes with feta cheese. Peppermint tea can calm an upset stomach. Lemon balm soothes the digestive tract and calms the nervous system. Many of the perennial herbs are drought and deer tolerant. Herbs can also be added to your vegetable garden for companion planting. Hummingbirds love the nectar from the flowers of pineapple sage, cigar plant and cypress vine.
Herbs By Deb welcomes you to start your herb garden or add to your existing landscape and will be a vendor at Madison Fest on April 26, 2014. A wide variety of herbs, perennials, annuals and blue berry bushes will be available.
