There will be a Called Meeting by the Morgan County Charter School System Board of Education on Wednesday, April 16, at 2:15p.m. in the Board of Education boardroom. The public is invited to this meeting to hear the Accreditation Exit Report based on the school system’s year-long self-assessment and External Review by AdvancED/SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools).

Following an intensive self-assessment at the school and system levels, the AdvancEd External Review Team comprised of five educators from across the country will visit the school system on April 14-April 16 to interview stakeholders, visit classrooms, analyze data, and examine student performance in order to make recommendations as to the re-accreditation of the system. Accreditation is inextricably linked to educational improvement.

The accreditation process asks school systems to critically evaluate their vision, strategies, priorities, leadership, and programs and resources. The process of earning and maintaining accreditation provides institutions and educational systems with clear and compelling direction for implementing changes to move toward excellence.

Accreditation matters to the Morgan County School System because our students deserve the highest level of educational excellence possible.

Upon re-accreditation, the Morgan County Charter School System will have earned the distinction of quality through the recognized seal of AdvancED accreditation. We will have received external and objective validation of the areas in which we are doing well, and the areas for continuous improvement.

Students and their parents will experience ease in transferring credits from one school to another, gain greater access to federal loans, scholarships, postsecondary education and military programs that require students attend an accredited institution, and will benefit from our commitment to raising student performance and accountability. Accredited Systems understand and honor the concept of continuous improvement. They are dynamic with an unrelenting focus on becoming better on behalf of the students they serve.
