The Morgan County 4-H archery teams found successat the State Archery Match at Rock Eagle on May 2-3. The Morgan County team took first place in the Cloverleaf Recurve team competition with a score of 831. Ashley Pincus placed first as an individual with a score of 324, and Julia Myers placed third at 291. Morgan County also placed first in the Senior Recurve division with Jacob Vaughters taking second as an individual and Jonathan Garner placing fifth.
First place was also achieved by the Senior Compound Team, who score 2040 in the competition as a whole. Seven individuals from the Senior Recurve and Senior Compound teams qualified to compete in the National Competition, which will take place in Nebraska this June. The team will need to raise funds in order to be able to travel to the National Competition, and there is a grant in place that will match any donations and funds raised for that purpose.
