When was the last time you called upon Him?

On Mother’s Day our attendance was good with visitors present. It was real good to see some of our members back with us and missed all that couldn’t be with us because of jobs, death in family and or sickness. Our prayers are with all of them. Morning announcements were made. Welcome and opening prayer was by deacon of the week James Harold Smith. All mothers present were recognized. The choir special was “Victory In Jesus.” Special in song was “If I Could Hear my Mother Pray Again,” sung and played by Kittie Mayfield. Bro. Ron’s message, “Mothers,” Psalms 46. Mothers are special people. God never cease to care about them and their children. God will be with all moms and dads. Trust God at all times, run to God as your personal, present and powerful refuge. We can run and hide in Him as our refuge shelter. He is always there. He is ever present. He is our strength; God is stronger and still on the throne.

As your day is so is your strength. He is an able, available and awesome refuge. He is available at all times. When was the last time you called upon Him? He should always be our first choice not our last resort. He remains firm in all He is, remember all our strength comes from God; no one is higher than Him. Moms call on God at anytime, recall all the great things God has done, rest in the knowledge of who God is. Sometimes we try to do things on our own instead of calling on God. He will be exalted. All moms need a relationship with God. Always know He is able, available and awesome.

We have the Bible as our manual, where all answers are found. Our church family was saddened on Friday morning when hearing of the death of Paul Austin. Our Christian sympathy goes out to his family during this time. We know they will trust God in the days ahead for all their needs, courage, comfort, hope and love. A memorial service for Paul Austin will be held at Brownwood Baptist Church Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. The family has asked instead of flowers donations be made to Brownwood Baptist in his memory. Sunday. May 18 our high school and college graduates will be recognized during morning worship at Brownwood.

Our regular quarterly conference at Brownwood will be held Sunday, May 18 at 6 p.m. All members are urged to attend. This is when God’s business of the church is discussed, you need to be in on this. The Morgan County Baptist Associational Senior Adult Banquet will be held Saturday, May 17 at Buckhead Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. Bring your favorite covered dish. Margie Ward visited Mary Jo Collins Thursday afternoon at Newton Medical Hospital. Sonny, Mary, Rachel and Zach Wood, Julie and Billy Phillips had Mother’s Day with Margie Ward.
