• East Side Scottish Rite Association will meet at 6p.m. at Pa-pa’s Restaurant at Salem Road (Northwest corner of Hwy 138 and Salem Road.) For further directions call 770-922-6591. • ”Antiques & Collectibles in the County” The William Harris Homestead  will host a fund-raiser entitled “Antiques & Collectibles in the Country on May 24, from 9-5 and May 25, 9-4.  The Homestead is located at 3636 Ga. Hwy 11, Monroe, Ga. (6 mi. north of Monroe and 2.8 mi. south of Hwy.316).  Antique dealers will be selling their treasures, there will be tours of the historic circa 1825 log house and out buildings, great food, musical entertainment, sheepherding, and hayrides throughout the weekend.  Admission price: $5.00/car.  So load on up and come out to join us for a fun filled, family weekend.  Hope to see you there!  http://www.harrishomestead.com./

• A Memorial Day Concert, sponsored by Abbey Hospice, will be held Monday, May 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Stephens Park in Social Circle. The Drive Time Band will be performing. Admission is free. • Sam Trania Painting Workshop at Madison Artists Guild in Madison. Classes will be held, at 217 W. Jefferson St., at the Madison Artists Guild. Classes are every Monday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. • Modern Mud The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art and the Madison Artists Guild have come together once more to put on an exhibit molded from masters of clay work entitled, Modern Mud: Potters on the Edge. Elizabeth Collins, Diane Davies, Rosemary Griggs, Chuck Hanes, and Carolyn Simmons have work encompassed in this show. The works molded by these five local talents are sure to capture any viewer’s fancy. The public is welcome to experience the wonders at the free wine and cheese opening reception on Thursday, May 22nd from 7-9PM at the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art. • Morgan County Middle School Cheerleaders will hold a Yard Sale/ Car Wash on Saturday, May 31, 2014.  8:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Advanced Auto Parts Parking Lot.

• Annual Morgan County NAACP Parade & Festivities Parade starts at noon Parade line up starts at 10:00 a.m.at MCPS parking lot. Festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. at Town Park. We are celebrating the MCHS Boys Basketball Team and will honor and celebrate Rev. G.C. Brown for being the oldest active African American pastor in Morgan County. SO COME ONE- COME ALL! The NAACP is looking for floats, fancy cars, etc. to show that black history is rich locally as well. We are looking forward to the entire state of Georgia celebrating with us. Don’t forget to check your voter registration status. If you are not registered to vote, see the NAACP booth at the parade. Remember to exercise your right to vote. Primary elections are Tuesday, May 20th. Early voting has already started. You may review your voter registration status, voting precinct, and sample ballot at http://mvp.sos.state.ga.us.

We highly recommend this workshop to anyone who is a notary public in the state of Georgia or is considering becoming one. It is important to remember that a notary public should perform their duties to the utmost extent of the law. The Camp will take place at the Madison Artists Guild at 217 W. Jefferson St., in Madison. Participants will get to create lots of artwork such as drawings, paintings, pottery, sculptures, and much MORE!
