The Madison Artists Guild (MAG) hosted its first ever Luau for its monthly First Friday event on June 6. The MAG kept their doors open until 8 pm, providing complimentary wine, hors d’oeuvres and door prizes. Nearby shops and businesses participate in the MAG’s First Friday events by staying open late to accommodate visiters who stroll through Town Park during the event. Some of the participating businesses this month were: Artisans Alley, I Bowman, Ava Alexander, Canavan, Madison Museum of Fine Art, and Dixie Seafood.

“This fun event is meant to help encourage Madisonians and visitor to shop locally and enjoy the wonderful stores in Madison,” said Jack Meyer, MAG marketing coordinator. “If you’re not already acquainted with the owners of the stores now is a great time to come out and meet them personally.” Artisans Alley Owner, Jeannie Clark, enjoys the monthly event. “We participate because we like to try to get to people down in the Town Park area. A lot of people dont know these buisnesses are here. We thought this is such a great idea on how to get people out htere. It very pretty down here and people strolling around the park in the evening,” said Clark.
