Greetings from The Springs! This service will start at 3:00 pm. Come expecting to hear a great word from the Lord! Pastor Robert Terrell’s sermon on Sunday, July 13, 2014 was short but powerful. He hasn’t preached to us in a few weeks, so he was ready to deliver and we were ready to receive! He began the morning leading us to Job 42:10 which reads, “And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” God said that it wasn’t until Job started praying for his friends and stopped focusing on himself that He turned it around.
Not only that, but the Lord gave him double for all the trouble that he went through. At the beginning of this book, Job didn’t realize that verses one and two were happening as Satan went to God and asked permission to go after him. Job was “perfect and upright” and did not understand what was going on. However, perfect living does not isolate you from suffering. All that Job knew is that all kinds of trouble was breaking through in his life. Pastor Terrell said we need to hold on to the fact that when you are a child of God, then you are on His team. Satan can’t bring anything your way unless he gets permission from God. Yet, if God allows it, then it is for your good. When you are walking in the love of Christianity, there is nothing that the devil can do to you unless God allows it because you are covered under the Blood of Jesus. The things allowed are permitted to perfect you. The second half of Pastor Terrell’s message brought home the point of the necessity of praying for others. The text for this came from Romans 8: 26-28. When you are praying for everyone else, the Holy Spirit works on your behalf. Although you may not know what you are praying for, the Holy Spirit knows what you can’t see. When you are praying for others and the Holy Spirit is interceding for you and God is searching your heart, all of these prayers are working together. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” USBC had a very special afternoon service where we witnessed the first public sermon of Minister Courtney Lamar Brooks. This young preacher is from Birmingham, Alabama and has been mentored by our very own, Prophet Frederick Collins. Also attending this service were Minister Brooks’ parents, Tobie and Esperanza Bennett, III, of Jacksonville, Florida. His father was given the opportunity to address the congregation and he expressed how proud he was of his son. He thanked God for changing his son’s life and also thanked Prophet Collins for taking a special interest in helping Minister Brooks achieve his goals in life. The sermon was titled, “Trouble Not Your Heart” and the text that he chose was John 14: 1, 27. Minister Brooks stated that Jesus said He will send us a Comforter to abide on the inside of us to contain the panic, the headaches and the heartaches of life. God gives us His peace, too. The peace that God wants for us is everlasting.
No matter what is going on in our lives at work or at home, in the midst of the storm, God wants us to have His peace. At the end of the program, Prophet Collins presented Minister Brooks with his license to preach the Gospel. This young man did an awesome job and we will be hearing from him again very soon. In fact, he is already slated to comeback with Prophet Collins and preach on the Tuesday night of Revival week, August 4-10. Pastor Terrell will be Minister Brooks’ overseer, yet he has allowed Prophet Collins to continue to mentor him while he is away from The Springs. This really gives a testament to the influence that the ministry of Pastor Robert Terrell has both near and far. May this ministry bless worldwide all those that are seeking the truth! In closing, let us do as suggested by Pastor Terrell. Start praying for someone else! When Job prayed for his friends, God changed that thing around! When you intercede, you sow a seed! Glory Be To God!
