Betty Webb has stepped in as newest cheer coach at Morgan County Middle School (MCMS). “I consider myself more the administrative coach with a little mix of classroom management kills sprinkled in with a few ounces of energy to get the job done,” said new middle school cheerleading coach Webb. Webb was asked to take over the program for it to continue in the 2014-2015 school year. Coach Lise Bowles is the community coach for the Morgan County Middle School cheerleading squad. Webb and Bowles have teamed up to work with the girls this year. “Ms. Bowles has been instrumental in creating the conditioning and choreographing the half time routines for the spirit girls while setting goals for the competition girls,” said Webb. Bowles and Webb lead two different groups of cheerleaders- the spirit team and the competition team.

The spirit squad is made of all the middle school cheerleaders. The spirit team cheers on both the football and the basketball teams at MCMS. The competition team is a group of girls that travel across the state to participate in cheerleading competitions. Webb is most excited about this year’s teams to showcase their spirit of “One Morgan.” Her expectations for the girls are that they work as a team. Webb wants the girls to set high expectations of themselves, create lasting friendships and have fun. “I love working with these girls because they understand that there is no ‘I’ in team and that we are ‘One Morgan’,” said Webb. She enjoys watching the routines come together through practice and the competition season. Webb is proud of the girls for their efforts this summer. The team just returned home from FCA camp in Rome. The MCMS Bulldog cheerleading squad brought home the highest honors for “The Best of The Best Cheer” and the “The Best of the Best Supreme Routine.” Webb said that she enjoys working with the girls in and out of the classroom and she looks forward to a great cheer year.
