Morgan County Marlins compete at state meet

The Morgan County Marlins swim team traveled to Tifton last weekend to compete in the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) Class B/C State Championship. The meet began on Friday, July 18, and extended through Saturday, July 19. Members of the Marlins finished highly in the final races at the Baldwin Drive Aquatic Center in Tifton. Leah Wall placed fifth in the Girls 9-10 25-yard backstroke with a time of 19.54. Emma Kate Leach earned a seventh-place finish in the Girls 11-12 50-yard freestyle race, finishing in 29.98.

Skylar Patterson took fourth in both the Girls 11-12 50-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard backstroke with times of 39.50 and 34.58, respectively. Lauren West placed fifth in the Girls 13-14 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:12.36. Hunter Price earned a fifth place finish in the Boys 13-14 50-yard butterfly at 29.63 and sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.07. The Marlins’ Girls 14 and under freestyle relay team, consisting of Skyler Patterson, Lauren West, Haylee Prince, Emma Kate Leach, Cassidy Robinson, and Abigail Glass, placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 2:00.49.
