On July 29 Richard Damion Sholar, 18, Madison, was arrested and charged with battery and cruelty toward children. According to reports, Sholar was arrested after the 16-year-old mother of his son reported that he had punched her in the forehead while he was wearing a ring. According to reports, the teen said she had requested Sholar spend time with their son but he told her he had to work and go to probation.The teen said she later learned that he had spent the time with a new girlfriend. When she expressed her dissatisfaction with Sholar, reports state, he initially slapped her and told her that was for stating negative remarks against his new girlfriend and he then punched her in the head. Sholar then left with the baby but was found on a porch on Larkmartin Street.The child was placed into the custody of relatives and Sholar was arrested.
On August 2 Jack Leon Jenkins, 47, Madison, was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking and violation of a court order. According to reports, Jenkins allegedly called a woman after he was ordered not to have any contact with the woman. He was also allegedly intoxicated, which, reports state, was also a violation of a court order against him.
On July 31 a shoplifting warrant was issued against Ivan Jarell Tory, 27, Madison. According to reports, Tory and a woman allegedly entered Wal Mart and attempted to change the price tag on a bed sheet set. Reports state that the couple switched the price tag of an item that costs $149.96 for an item that costs $9.47. A cashier refused the purchase but Tory was identified by surveillance footage at the store.
On July 31 a harassing communication complaint was filed at a West Washington Street location. According to reports, a woman alleged that a former employee had drove by her while she was at Town Park and yelled names at her. The complainant said she was in the process of pressing charges against the woman for theft.
On July 27 Bethany Elaine Smith, 22, Rutledge, was arrested and charged with shoplifting. According to reports, Smith allegedly attempted to take $60 worth of merchandise from Wal Mart without paying for the items.
On July 31 James Lawson Lee, 31, Madison, was arrested and charged with shoplifting. According to reports, Lee allegedly attempted to take the DVD “The Purge” from Wal Mart without paying for the item. The DVD is valued at $12.95. On July 30 Tyrone Williams, 43, Madison was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and drunkenness. According to reports, officers were called to a South Main Street residence after a man reported that Williams would not stop beating on his back door. Williams, reports state, told officers he was looking for a party.
On July 28 Joseph Robert Michaud, 40, Monticello, was arrested and charged with selling amphetamine. According to reports, Michaud was arrested after officers had used a confidential informant to allegedly purchase $50 worth of methamphetamine.
On July 29 a burglary complaint was filed at a West Washington Street location. According to reports, a man stated that someone had entered his tire store by knocking a garage door of its tracks and removed four tires valued at $1,600 and an old Coke machine valued at $50. The complainant said tree trimming devices had been left behind. Those items were secured and fingerprints were removed.
On July 24 Tiffany Renee Duvall, 25, Madison was arrested and charged with criminal trespass. According to reports, Duvall was observed leaving a room at the Wingate Inn, Eatonton Road. Reports state that Duvall had been served with a criminal trespass warning at the motel earlier.
