The Morgan County Elementary School (MCES) Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) held their first meeting of the new school year on August 11. At the meeting PTO members discussed various upcoming school events and caught up with Principal Ty Snyder. Fundraising and parent involvement were the major topics of discussion at this meeting. MCES depends on the help of parents in order to pull off successful events for their students and the community.
The PTO meeting got off to a running start with discussion of the upcoming Trick or Trot 5k/ 1 Mile fun run. Kristi Fridell, Bobby Mackey, and Stephanie Kenner are working on the Third Annual Trick or Trot race which is scheduled to take place on October 25 in downtown Rutledge. All proceeds of the Trick or Trot 5k/ 1 Mile fun run will benefit MCES. Another topic of discussion revolved around the Ingles 2014-2015 Tools for Schools Advantage Card program.
This program allows Ingles shoppers to link their Advantage Card to a school of their choice. After linking your Advantage Card, the school of your choice will receive a portion of the sales each time you make a purchase. This program has contributed over 10 million dollars to schools in the past 10 years and MCES received $600 from the program just last year.
The MCES PTO would like parents to know that this program requires you to re-link your card each school year.Linking your Ingles Advantage card is easy and can be done in minutes online at: www.ingles-markets.com/toolsforschools-link. The MCES PTO is working hard to organize fun and educational events for students and their families. Parents are encouraged to get involved with the PTO and are looking forward to a fun and successful school year.
Important upcoming dates for the MCES include: School Spirit Day, on August 15, Book Far beginning on August 18, open houses for third, fourth, and fifth grades on August 19, and Fall pictures on August 28.
