The Morgan County High School Volleyball team took two wins at home last Thursday against Jackson County and Cedar Shoals. The girls beat Jackson 25-11 and 25-13, and Cedar Shoals 25-14 and 25-16. Jackson has been a tough rival for the team earlier in season, but the previous loss fueled the MCHS Volleyball team’s determination to win. And the motivation succeeded in large-margin win Thursday. According to Coach Greg Thompson, the girls did not miss a beat, coming out on the court with their A-game. Starting out strong had a good effect on morale for the lady Bulldogs Thursday as they took a quick lead against Jackson and never gave it up. Having lost a set to Jackson earlier in the season, Coach Greg Thompson said that the girls wanted to send them a message that it was not going to happen again. The second match of the day against Cedar Shoals proved to be a great opportunity for every player to see some play time without having to sacrifice a level of excellence in play. Coach Thompson said that the girls stepped in and did a nice of of dealing with Cedar Shoals. “We still have some work to do before the Region Tournament next week,” said Thompson, “but I like the way our team is playing right now.” The MCHS Volleyball team will host Hart and Monroe this Thursday for Senior Night, and will travel to Monroe for the Region Tournament this weekend.
