Been having some “nippy” weather, so I guess Fall is in full swing. I hate to see the summer days go. Missed you last week but we had a fabulous week end and I’ll tell you about it. Happy to be back in church on Sunday. A slim crowd, with school being out this week so many chose to take a mini vacation and still have some sick and unable to get here. Butch took his message from Acts 17: 16-33. Sermon titled “Engaging the Multiple Choice”. Verses 22-23 tell us to find a common ground. Speak in love and respect (24-25). Remember you were designed by God. He made the world and all things within. God is a provider. He is with us always. Verse 31 tells us that He will judge the world. We were blessed on Sunday morning as little 5 year old Sophie Allen took the microphone with both hands and belted out a song for us. What a joy is this little girl. She is daughter of Lisa and Bobby Allen. Little Miss Kaylee Stewart and a friend enjoyed her birthday celebration by going to see the group “One Direction.” I don’t know this group but I know my great grand daughters are also big fans. While we were in Charlotte last weekend Roxana took Olivia to see them. We were out of town last week end, we arrived at Jill’s on Friday, also stopping at Jill’s for the night, Susanne and her family, Trae and his family. On Saturday we all went to Chuck and Leah’s in Danville, Virginia for a family celebration. I guess there were about 35 of us that enjoyed the love and fellowship and the delicious barbecue and ribs prepared by Leah’s, dad, Phil and the other food prepared by Leah and her mother, Paula. It was a surprise gathering for Chuck and what a joy to see the surprise on his face. I love family gatherings. I love reunions. I just love my family. Period. I am already looking forward to Thanksgiving. It’s good to hear that Mike Walker is doing well with his last hip surgery and that Eleanor Johnson is trying to behave but it’s really hard on the family to keep that girl down. We want her to heal and be better than new. Sandy Waddell is doing better after some minor surgery. Ramsey Simmons is almost as good as new after his surgery. Sandy Keheley has not been feeling well. Always remember Lou and Jessie Comans, he’s had surgery recently. Charles Johnson and O.L. Jordan, Patsy Greene, Virgil Bumgarner, Alice Waddell, our listing goes on and on. Lord, you know all about each one. Again a reminder that we are doing a study in Matthew on Sunday night, with snacks in the fellowship hall at 6 p.m. On Wednesday nights we eat at 6:30 for a small donation, then we are studying in Timothy at 7 p.m. You are welcome to join in our any of our studies. Butch is a great teacher of the Word. Also, on Wednesday nights our youth is studying “Dare to be a Daniel”. Would love to see your kids here with us. Mark your calendar for October 25th. Our Fall Festival will begin at 5 p.m. We are asking for cakes for the cake walk. I’m in charge of this event and I love to see those beautiful cakes going to happy families. There will be so many things for your kids to enjoy. This coming Saturday night, October 11th, the Jonesmen Quartet from Jonesboro will be in concert at Almon United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. The address is 10 Almon Road, Covington. I’ve heard this group and would like to book them sometime in the future if and when we are to begin our quarterly singings again. I plan to go and hope you will too. Tara Elliott attended the wedding of Typhany Hill and Michael Geirrein on Saturday. Congratulations to them as they begin a new life together. Our Moon Girl Cousin reunion is coming up soon in October. I can hardly wait to get to spend time with my loving cousins. We will celebrate the birthday of Betty, our oldest living female cousin. Gosh, it seems like it was yesterday we were all little girls. Special memories. Men cousins, we may invite you to the next one. Little Tripp Ray celebrated a birthday on Sunday, as did Harleigh Wilson. Blessings for you. So until next week may the Lord bless you real good.
