Jury says ‘not guilty’ in molestation case, others sentenced

The following cases were adjudicated during a criminal trial week at Morgan County Superior Court last week.

Angel A. Hernandez, 32, Euless, Texas, pled guilty to one count of trafficking in marijuana. He was sentenced to 20 years with five years to serve and the remainder to be served on probation. He was fined $100,000. According to court documents, Hernandez was arrested on November 27, 2007 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper after the trooper located approximately 40 pounds of marijuana in a trunk compartment in a rental vehicle.

Al Forrest Collins, 55,Covington, pled guilty to one count sale of Ocycodone, one count sale of methamphetamine and one count possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 10 years with four years to serve and the remainder to be served on probation. He was also ordered to turn himself into the Morgan County Detention Center by 5 p.m. on November 1 and was fined $5,000. Collins was arrested on January 27, 2012 after he sale a quantity of methamphetamine in the parking lot of an Eatonton Highway convenience store.

Tony Arness Jacobs, 46, Madison pled guilty to five counts of theft by receiving and one count of operating a chop shop. He was sentenced to 20 years with two years to serve and the remainder to be served on probation. He was ordered to pay $11,000 in restitution and was fined $1,000. According to documents, Jacobs was arrested by Morgan County officials on October 10, 2011 after officials executed a search warrant of Jacobs’ Turner Road property and allegedly parts of several vehicles that had been reported stolen. In a separate matter, Jacobs pled guilty to another count of theft by receiving stolen property and was sentenced to 10 years to run concurrent with any other sentences.

Rico Jamar Mosley, 35, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, one count possession of marijuana, one count driving while license suspended. He was sentenced to 15 years with 10 years to serve and the remainder on probation. He was fined $5,000. Mosley was arrested on May 25, 2012 after a Morgan County K9 officer alerted on a vehicle Mosley was driving. Following a search an officer located an M&M bag inside a Mason jar that contained 61 individually wrapped crack cocaine rocks, three bags of powder cocaine and 24.9 grams of marijuana.

 

Yusef Bilal Hameen, Sr, 61, Columbia, S.C. pled guilty to one count reckless driving. He was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $1,000. Hameen was arrested on DUI charges on April 8, 2012 but those charges, per the plead agreement, were reduced.

Tony Jacobs, 46, Madison, pled guilty to one count fleeing and attempting to elude, one count failure to maintain lane and one count driving while license suspended. He was sentenced to one year probation. Jacobs was arrested on November 20 after he fled from an officer attempting to make a traffic stop on a silver Taurus Jacobs was driving. Jacobs, warrants allege, abandoned the vehicle and fled into the woods.

Dustin Dwane Davis, 41, Greensboro, was found not guilty by jury trial of two counts child molestation. Authorities arrested Davis, court documents state, on November 11, 2012 after authorities had alleged that he had improperly touched a 13-year-old girl.

Kendrick Mandrell Hall, 36, Madison pled guilty to one count criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, one count aggravated assault and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 20 years with three years to serve and the remained to be served on probation. He was fined $1,000. Hall was arrested, documents state, December 16, 2012 after he got into a vehicle with another man on Burney Street and demanded all the man’s property. The man fought Hall, warrants state, and Hall pulled a gun and struck the victim in the head then fled.

James Kenneth Barnes, 55, Auburn, Ga., pled guilty to one count DUI. He was sentenced to one year with 24 hours to serve and was fined $500. Barnes was arrested on April 28, 2013 by a Madison police officer.

Rebecca Wood Litz, 68, Madison was found guilty of one count shoplifting after a jury trial. She was sentenced one year probation. She was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of shoplifting after she took a Jabra Bluetooth device from a Verizon store.

Antonio Dale Ballard, 34, Madison pled guilty to two counts possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. He was sentenced to 10 years probation and was fined $1,000. Ballard was arrested, documents state, on September 25, 2013 by Morgan County Sheriff’s Office investigators, searched Ballard’s River Woods Drive residence in response to complaint regarding the manufacturing of meth. Warrants state that unmarked pills and suspected meth were found in the residence.

Quantterio Hyman, 32, Madison pled guilty to one county cruelty to children in the first degree, one count simple assault, one count simple battery and one count simple battery on a police officer. Hee was sentenced to 10 years probation and was fined $1,000. Hyman was arrestedon February 4, 2014, warrants state, after he and a woman were arguing at Relax Inn, Athens Highway and the argument escalated to Hyman throwing beer bottle at the woman.

Scotty Eugene Bryant, 51, Newborn pled guilty to one count theft by taking. He was sentenced to one year probation. Bryant was arrested, documents state, on January 10, 2014 after he took propane tanks from the Golden Pond convenience store in Rutledge.

Prinze Mikell Alexander, 50, pled guilty to one count DUI. He was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $300. Alexander was arrested on March 28, 2014 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper on a DUI charge.

Raphael Trevarus Minor, 23, Covington pled guilty to one count possession of cocaine. He was sentenced to 10 years probation and fined $1,000. Minor was arrested on March 19, 2014, warrants state, by a Georgia State Patrol trooper after he had more than 28 grams of powder cocaine in his possession.

Raven Danielle Williams, 26, Atlanta pled guilty to one county speeding, one count giving false name to a law enforcement officer, one count giving false date of birth to a law enforcement officer and one count driving without a license. She was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $1,000. Williams was arrested on March 11, 2014, warrants state, on Interstate 20 afer by stopped for speeding. Consequent to the stop and her receiving a speeding citation, it was later discovered that she had given an officer a false name.

Gladys Patricia McDaniel, 54, Columbia, S.C. pled guilty to one count serious injury by vehicle and one count DUI. She was sentenced to 15 years with three to serve with the remainder to be served on probation. McDaniel was arrested, documents state, on April 20, 2014 after she struck a man on Interstate 20 while driving intoxicated.

Vincente Deon Murray, 21, Madison, pled guilty to two counts sale of marijuana. He was sentenced to eight years probation and was fined $2,000. Murray was arrested on August 25, 2014, warrants state, after sold a quantity of marijuana within the city limits of Madison.

Tavis Maurice Simmons, 23, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. He was sentenced to seven years probation and was fined $2,000. Simmons was arrested, warrants state, on April 22, 2014 at a room at the Relax Inn, Athens Highway after officers on foot patrol smelled burnt marijuana coming from a room occupied by Simmons and a female. The officers searched the room and found 6.82 ounces of marijuana.

David W. Queen, 26, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to four years probation and fined $1,000. Queen was arrested, warrants state, on February 2, 2014 after an officer found a quantity of methamphetamine in a  McDonald’s milkshake cup that was in the center console of a vehicle in which Queen was a passenger.

 

Joe Lee Hicks, 27, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to three years probation and was fined $1,000. Hicks was arrested, warrants state, on April 16, 2014 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office investigator after a vehicle Hicks was driving was stopped for a seat belt violation. Consequent to the stop, warrants state, a small quantity of meth, a liquid in a pill bottle and a syringe was found.

 

Ronnie Joe Payne, 38, Madison pled guilty to one count possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. He was sentenced to 10 years with two years to serve and was fined $2,000. Payne was arrested, warrants state, on May 21, 2014, after he sold a quantity of methamphetamine to an undercover police agent.

Miguel Garcia Martinez, 54, Dawsonville, pled guilt to one count driving without a license. He was sentenced to one year probation and fined $1,000.

Jaborice Mario Moore, 20, Madison pled guilty to one count theft by receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to one year probation. Moore was arrested on June 26, 2014 after he took a bicycle from a East Washington Street residence.

 

Levi Adam Hulsey, 21, Madison pled guilty to theft by receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to 10 years probation and was fined $1,000. Hulsey was arrested, warrants state, on September 26, 2014 after he had attempted to sell a stolen 2011 Grizzly four wheeler valued at $5,000 for $400.
