Gratitude for our veterans

We live in the greatest nation on the face of the earth. America is a great nation because of the great people who have served, sacrificed and invested in the dream of freedom that permeates our nation’s landscape. The men and women of the United States Armed Forces are the foundational fiber of this great nation. Their service and sacrifice are unmatched by any other. America has much for which to be grateful. A nation which takes its freedoms for granted is a weak nation. May it be that we would be a nation with gratitude for those who serve us sacrificially. This Sunday, November 9, Centennial Baptist Church will host the annual Veteran’s Celebration Service. This is an opportunity for our community to join together and celebrate the freedom we have through Jesus Christ to know God, have our sins forgiven and worship God. It is also an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the men and women who have sacrificed and served in order to protect our freedoms as citizens of this great nation, including the freedom to worship God. Freedom is not free. Every time I see the Stars & Stripes flying, hear the Star Spangled Banner or see a soldier in uniform, I am reminded of the price that was paid and continues to be paid to defend our liberties. The Veteran’s Celebration Service begins at 10:30am on Sunday, November 9 in the sanctuary at Centennial Baptist Church. There will be a free meal for all veterans and their families following the service in the church’s fellowship building. I would like to personally invite our community’s veterans and your families to join us and allow us to say “Thank you” for your sacrifice and service. I would also like to extend a personal invitation to each person in our community to join us as we celebrate freedom together.
