Greetings from The Springs! Praise the Lord that Mother Octavia Whitlock is back! She recently had knee surgery, but she is back in the house of the Lord, praising God and looking better that ever! If you missed the announcement, write this down. The next Women’s Conference, “Becoming Transparent Before God,” is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th at 10 a.m. Take some time and write down those issues that you have been struggling to let go. Whether it concerns a dysfunctional relationship or something that someone did to you that was not your fault, bring those issues so that you can finally release them. Pastor Robert Terrell continued his series on Spiritual Gifts during Wednesday Night Bible Study. His focus was on 1 Corinthians 14 to help us to understand how to receive spiritual gifts. The first verse is the key. “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.” In this chapter we also see that the Gifts are to edify and encourage the Body of Christ. The gift of tongues is a sign to those that believe and we should pray to interpret if we are going to speak in tongues. Also, God is orderly. When we do things obedient to the Word of God, the Lord will show up in our lives. To further emphasize this point, Pastor Terrell shifted to Genesis 1:1-3 where we see that God did not speak until the Spirit moved. God changes not! It was void, but when the Spirit moved, God said, “Let there be!” Remember that this Wednesday is Prayer and Testimony Night starting at 7:30 p.m. The series on Spiritual Gifts will resume next week. All are always welcome, so join us! On first Sunday, USBC did not have any christenings, however I need to share with you details on one from September. Young Master A’mauri Jordan Ingram was dedicated back to the Lord by his parents, Maurice Jackson Ingram and Quinn Rivers. Grandparents are Mack Reynolds and Susan Ingram and Jimmy L. Rivers, Sr. and the late Lisa R. Rivers. It is always a blessing to see all the babies being christened at The Springs and this handsome baby is truly a gift from God! Sunday, November 2, 2014 was Praise and Worship morning at The Springs! The baptismal message from Pastor Robert Terrell was also the sermon for the day. His text came from Exodus 3:13-14 where Moses says to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,” and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM THAT I AM.” And He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’” We know that Moses made many excuse when God called him to leadership, yet the Lord still chose him and blessed him. Pastor Terrell went on to say that whenever there is a hindrance in life, press on. That hindrance may not be for you but to stop someone else. However, nothing can stop the work of God! Press your way! God is going to do something! For all that you need, Jesus is the I AM THAT I AM! Glory Be To God!
